New Plumpton History Book On Sale Now Handicap Chase

Off time: 14:51 | Winning time: 5m 23.50s

Vicenzo Mio^p,t¹⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 11-12| J: Tom Cannon| T: C Gordon| OR: 105

5/1

Mudlark who won three times over hurdles, and was runner-up in a C&D chase earlier in the year from 5lb higher. May have needed his recent run over hurdles, but yet to find enough at the business end to win a chase.

Form: 67526-6

Minella Voucher^t²⁹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-8| J: Adam Wedge| T: Alexandra Dunn| OR: 101

11/2

Scored at Fontwell last time (2m5f, soft). Up 7lb for that, but front pair 11L clear of the field. Has to be strongly considered if able to act on heavy.

Form: 43-1S21

Flaminger¹⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 11-8| J: Joshua Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR: 107

6/5

Couldn't manage to win over hurdles despite making the frame in 4-5 races, and was also placed on chase debut behind a decisive winner here (2m1f, soft) last time. Should improve for that and a step up in trip. Contender.

Form: 5223-22

The Mighty Ash^b²⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 11-5| J: David Noonan| T: Mrs F M Shaw| OR: 98

17/2

0-14 under rules. Was entitled to need his return run over hurdles, and has often done better on his second start after a break. Could get involved then, but still not easy to see him winning.

Form: 05752-0

O'Rahilly^p,t1¹⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 11-2| J: Page Fuller⁽³⁾| T: Miss Z C Davison| OR: 95

6/1

Maiden who ran well here over hurdles in October, from 5lb higher. Well beaten in same race as Flaminger here on his recent introduction to chasing, however, and others are preferred.

Form: 4-74644

Beet Topper¹³

Age: 6| Weight: 10-1| J: P J Brennan| T: Miss A M Newton-Smith| OR: 80

8/1

0-5 over hurdles, when he never threatened to make the frame. Yet to get round in two chase runs and is readily taken on.

Form: 040P-FP

Forecasts

Flaminger (6/5), Vicenzo Mio (5/1), Minella Voucher (11/2), O'Rahilly (6/1), Beet Topper (8/1), The Mighty Ash (17/2)

Not much depth to this and it looks a good chance for FLAMINGER to make a successful step up in trip after a respectable effort here last time. Minella Voucher will be the choice of many, but his previous efforts on heavy ground make him look vulnerable, after a 7lb rise for winning. Vicenzo Mio and The Mighty Ash are preferred of the remainder.
