Trainers Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott have landed the spoils in this contest in each of the last eight years with the Closutton yard winning on three occasions while the master of Cullentra has taken the last four renewals with the likes of Death Duty, Samcro, Rapid Escape and 12 months ago with Envoi Allen. With the Mullins stable taking a back seat here the door is open for PENCILFULLOFLEAD to land a five-timer for the Elliott yard. The Shantou gelding beat six previous winner on debut at Down Royal early last month and can win again ahead of the Joseph O'Brien-trained Uhtred who won his sole bumper start in April. Dewcup and Fantasio D'Alene appear next best.
