Better than his last effort at Fairyhouse over 2m5f suggests when making a bad mistake three out before being eased. More likely than some to run his race on handicap debut.

Needs to improve on a couple of dismal efforts when sent off at odds of 40/1 and 100/1 before running accordingly on each occasion. Looks a tall order on handicap chase debut.

Well backed for a Gowran Park handicap chase in February, finishing second of six beaten 3L. Encouraging return at Naas last month over a similar trip on soft to heavy ground. Yard won a similar contest in 2013 with Oscars Business.

Winner of two of his 14 starts over the larger obstacles. Winner of a Downpatrick handicap hurdle in October and capable of giving a good account on return to fences in this contest.

Won three hurdles races in quick succession in April/May before returning in triumph to land a Tipperary 2m4f handicap chase by 17L on yielding ground off a 16lb lower mark when last seen in October. Life more difficult from revised mark.

20/1
Three from 20 over the larger obstacles landing a win over C&D albeit over two years ago off a 5lb higher mark. Looks to be a regressive veteran.

Enduring Love17
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: A W Short(3)| T: P J Rothwell| OR:  92
9/1
Off the mark for connections at the eighth time of asking when landing a 2m5f handicap at Fairyhouse last month off a 7lb lower mark. Beaten since and may need a few to falter.

Forecasts

Shanroe Al C (2/1), Fairly Legal (5/2), Final List (5/1), Cle En Main (13/2), Persian Wind (8/1), Enduring Love (9/1), Stoughan Cross (20/1)

Verdict

The J P McManus-owned FAIRLY LEGAL can build on an encouraging return to action finishing fourth of 12 beaten 8½L in a Naas handicap chase over a similar trip on soft to heavy ground last month. The nine-year-old can get off the mark over the larger obstacles at the ninth time of asking possibly getting the better of the vastly improved Shanroe Al C who will have to carry 16lb more than he did when landing a Tipperary handicap over a similar trip when last seen in October. Enduring Love and the Gordon Elliott-trained Final List should not be underestimated.
  1. Fairly Legal
  2. Shanroe Al C
