Likable veteran scored for the seventh time at Stratford in July before finishing last of four at Sedgefield. Had a break here and with conditions forecast to be relatively sound for the time of year he could go well if back on song.

Twice a winner last season as a novice for Kevin Ryan although well held in lone handicap to end the campaign. Confident he's better than that and market may be an aid here on stable/seasonal debut.

Bangor-on-Dee maiden winner who subsequently finished fourth at Kelso and Huntingdon in novice races under a penalty. Handicap debut today perhaps offers more hope and market support would be notable.

1lb lower than Plumpton handicap winner in September 2018 but only raced twice since and well below par in most recent start on the Flat at Lingfield. Doubts today.

Won one of 15 for previous trainer Nigel Hawke although went well a couple of times after the lone win. Frankly woeful stable debut at Huntingdon last Sunday (last of 11) casts serious doubts.

Three-time winner returning from 595 days off when pulled up at Sedgefield last week. Hopefully fare better now and has won off higher marks in the past.

2018 Bangor winner ran no sort of race in three 2019 starts after falling to end 2018 and was pulled up in last two starts this summer. Hopefully show something now after a break but highly risky proposition.

Twice placed in four hurdles starts since he won at Bangor in August. Gets another 2lb back after his Sedgefield fifth latest and looks well handicapped enough to make the frame here.

Off the mark at the seventh time of asking last week when landing a Huntingdon conditionals handicap off this mark and he avoids a penalty for the success. First rate claims then and a confident selection.

Twice second in bumpers and was also second in fourth start over hurdles at Cartmel in May. No such promise in handicap bow at Hexham subsequently however and questions to answer here after the break.

Won off this mark at Musselburgh at the start of the year and two fair efforts at the course since off 97 suggest that he has each-way prospects in this race lacking strength in depth.

Built on a promising hurdles bow by landing the odds in a Musselburgh maiden. Well held at Catterick next (sixth of 16) but shown enough to suggest this lowly mark should be within range; respected.

First race under Rules since a last place at Warwick in April 2016. 0-24 since in points and makes no appeal with 4lb long handicap only adding to his woes.

Forecasts

Pagero (4/11), Kajaki (6/1), Outcrop (12/1), George Ridsdale (12/1), Lady Kyria (16/1), Raashdy (16/1), Chieftain's Choice (18/1), Wot A Shot (20/1), Carry On (25/1), Crackdeloust (25/1), Farmer Boy (40/1), Phoenix Dawn (40/1), Sixties Star (50/1), Ofcourseiwill (50/1), Take The Crown (100/1)

Verdict

In a race lacking strength in depth PAGERO is fancied to follow up his Huntingdon success here; he avoids a penalty with that race being a conditionals handicap so looks sure to take plenty of beating now. Handicap debutants Carry On and George Ridsdale could present the greatest threat as relatively unknown quantities; they both won novice races so clearly have ability.
