Has failed to finish on three of his last five starts, but fairly useful when on song, and probably needed the run when third of 5 to Bafana Blue at Ayr on his return. Better expected now.

3/1
Multiple point winner who made a good impression when winning a maiden hunter at Kelso on chase bow in April 2018, coming home well clear. Should make his mark in handicaps, and opening mark not harsh, assuming he's fit to fire for new connections.

Won a C&D handicap in the spring by 18L, but that was rather a weak affair, and he was well held twice last month at Wetherby. Looked a hard ride last time, and not easy to fancy on that evidence.

A useful handicap chaser at one time, winning the Peter Marsh Chase in 2015. Injury intervened after that, however, and he seems in terminal decline now. Took a purler of a fall when last seen at Haydock in March.

Point winner who has quickly graduated from hurdles to fences for connections, finishing second over C&D at the first attempt. Unseated early at Haydock last time, but best not judged on that lapse, and one to bear in mind.

Doesn't seem the force of old in this sphere, and finished a well-beaten third of 8 to Eceparti at Wetherby last time, beating only one other finisher. Others much more persuasive now.

Beat Knocknamona at Carlisle last season, and appeared to run well at Hexham in June from 3lb higher, but well held either side of that, and latest run when pulled up at Sedgefield was poor.

Forecasts

Urbanist (6/4), Speak Of The Devil (15/8), Diamond Brig (3/1), Capard King (5/1), Just Georgie (5/1), Kings Eclipse (6/1), Newberry New (14/1), Samstown (40/1)

Verdict

With Urbanist a defector, this can go to the ex-pointer DIAMOND BRIG, who has joined Nick Alexander after winning his only outing under rules for Wendy Hamilton. Speak of the Devil was second over C&D on chase debut, and looks best of the rest, for all an in-the-mood Capard King would be a threat to all.
  1. Diamond Brig
  2. Speak Of The Devil
  3. Capard King
