Brought his record on the AW to 2 from 3 with a strong late thrust in a Class 3 handicap at Lingfield (7f) last week; an incurred 6lb penalty is offset by the 7lb claimer Luke Catton.

Formerly with Saeed bin Suroor; identified by Mick Appleby as a possible bargain at just £7,000 and that has proved to be the case with recent form figures of 211; earned a 5lb rise for beating Wiley Poet by 1L at Lingfield (6f).

Won for the tenth-time in his career (from 57 starts) when fending off Martineo by ½L at Chelmsford (7f) in early November; impossible to dismiss from just a 2lb higher mark.

Yet to win on the AW but clearly isn't troubled by Tapeta; in the thick of things when a close third to Unforgiving Minute in a C&D claimer last week; the suspicion is that this five-time turf winner is just too high in the handicap.

Made all when winning a 7½f Beverley novice (good to soft) for William Haggas in May; was a beaten favourite on handicap debut subsequently and has moved on for 45,000gns since; remains open to further improvement.

Versatile in terms of racing surface (3-13 AW, 3-19 turf); is yet to race beyond 6f, so despite being rated 7lb lower than when successful here in March (made all) and being ideally housed in stall 1 that surely makes him vulnerable.

Off the mark over this C&D (Class 5 novice) a fortnight ago when beating the Olly Murphy-trained Prompting by 4L; reverts to handicapping from what is feasibly a workable mark (79); must enter the thought process.

Won twice over 6f as a juvenile (turf); has kept strong company for much of his 3yo season, admittedly proving none too competitive in the main; now rated 15lb lower than for Tapeta debut at Newcastle in June.

Fastar52
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-13| J: S Foley| T: G O'Leary| OR:  76
10/1
A once useful 1m handicapper for Brian Meehan (sold for 38,000gns); runner up in a competitive 1m handicap at the Curragh (gd to yld) in May; his form has dipped slightly since but don't discount, especially if the market vibes are overtly strong.

Forecasts

Mohareb (3/1), Typhoon Ten (3/1), Loving Glance (5/1), Tukhoom (6/1), Fastar (10/1), Fuente (12/1), Boy In The Bar (12/1), Reflektor (14/1), Kodiac Pride (25/1)

Verdict

An open race in which plenty hold a realistic chance of winning, not least the upped-in-grade C&D novice scorer Loving Glance who must enter the thought process from a workable looking handicap mark of 79. However, the preferred choice is last week's Class 3 Lingfield winner TYPHOON TEN. His trainer Richard Hannon offsets an incurred 6lb penalty by deploying the 7lb claimer Luke Catton in the saddle.
  1. Typhoon Ten
  2. Loving Glance
  3. Boy In The Bar
