Useful hurdler; truthfully his form over fences is nothing special, although he landed the odds in a hack canter (in headgear) in a Beginners' Chase at Kempton (2m4½f, good) in May.

Eragon De Chanayp158
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-8| J: N F Houlihan(7)| T: G & J Moore| OR:  133| CD
8/1
5-17 over hurdles, with two of those wins coming at Sandown (2m-2m4f); finished a well held third to Byron Flyer on chasing debut at Ludlow (2m4f, good) in October; cheekpieces are added; trainer saddles three runners.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: N de Boinville| T: B Pauling| OR:  129| D
9/1
Sporting a first-time tongue-tie when making a winning chasing debut at Plumpton (2m4f, soft) in October; he jumped anything but proficiently there and was arguably a very fortunate winner (the reopposing My Way fell at the last).

Deservedly off the mark when justifying favouritism over hurdles at Perth (2m4f, good) in May; unseated his rider at the second fence when meeting the exciting Brewin'upastorm on chasing debut at Taunton (2m2f, good).

Canelo26
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: A King| OR:  127
5/2
Won twice over hurdles during the early months of 2018 (2m3½f-2m6f) before changing ownership for £110,000; missed all of last season; plugged on for third on belated chasing debut over C&D (soft) 26 days ago - beaten 7¾L by Champagne Court.

My Wayt46
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: H Cobden| T: P F Nicholls| OR:  127
9/2
Frustrating, if capable maiden (0-7 for Paul Nicholls); was in front when falling at the last on chasing debut for this trainer (2322 for Francois Nicolle in France) at Plumpton (2m4f, soft) in October, effectively gifting the race to Legal Eyes.

Lithicp23
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: Jonjo O'Neill Jr.| T: J & A O'Neill| OR:  127
10/1
Twice worn down in gruelling finishes earlier in the year (Uttoxeter & Exeter, both 3m soft) and remains a maiden over fences (0-14); pulled up on seasonal reappearance; ideally needs some further assistance from the handicapper.

Ballinslea Bridge655
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: J E Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR:  125
16/1
On an upward curve when last seen in competitive action over hurdles for Olly Murphy during the 2017/18 season (off the track for 655 days); one of three declared runners for Gary Moore; chasing debut.
9

Editeur Du Gite570
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: Joshua Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR:  125
33/1
Stayed on strongly when beating Easter Boy by ½L in a conditions hurdle at Compiegne (2m2f, heavy) in May 2018; sold soon afterwards for €150,000; returns over fences from a 570-day absence for the triply-represented Gary Moore.

Dashing Perk414
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-12| J: R Johnson| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR:  123| BFWS
8/1
Heavy ground hurdles winner at Wincanton (Jan 2018) who hasn't seen a great deal of racing in recent times; off the track for 414 days since finishing 3L third to Just A Sting on chasing debut at Uttoxeter (2m6½f); wind surgery.

Forecasts

Canelo (5/2), Burbank (4/1), My Way (9/2), Dashing Perk (8/1), Eragon De Chanay (8/1), Legal Eyes (9/1), Lithic (10/1), Paint The Dream (16/1), Ballinslea Bridge (16/1), Editeur Du Gite (33/1)

Verdict

Gary Moore saddles three runners with Ballinslea Bridge and the €150,000 purchase Editeur Du Gite returning from extended absences for their respective chasing debuts. Furthermore, a number of the others declared have also faced significant absences from racing during various stages of their careers with Dashing Perk (Richard Newland) and Canelo (Alan King) the most obvious cases in point. In a somewhat muddling affair where stakes are best kept a minimum we'll chance that the frustrating but capable maiden MY WAY can atone for his late mishap at Plumpton, and in the process extract his revenge over chief beneficiary Legal Eyes.
  1. My Way
  2. Ballinslea Bridge
  3. Canelo
