Bitsandpiecesp228
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-12| J: Simon Torrens(7)| T: M Winters| OR:  121| D
11/4
Four-race maiden over the larger obstacles with the Milan gelding hitting the frame on more than one occasion. Wouldn't have to improve too much to play a major role in the finish.
2
Horse silk
Brog Ahaon51
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: Sean Flanagan| T: M McCabe| D
7/1
Had been improving over hurdles all summer culminating in a decent win in a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan in August. Likely to improve on promising chasing debut at Punchestown over a similar trip in October.
3
Horse silk
Empire Escape25
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: P Merrigan| T: D Broad
100/1
Six-race maiden, very modest form over hurdles. Tailed off finishing last of 13 making no impression on chasing introduction at Navan last, sent off at odds of 100/1.
4
Horse silk
20/1
Below-par 96-rated handicap hurdler who finished a moderate seventh of 15 on debut over the larger obstacles at Thurles late last month.
5
Horse silk
33/1
Has not reproduced the form of his 1¾L defeat at Naas in January in five dismal efforts since including on return to action in a Cork 2m4f handicap hurdle last month. Looks up against it on chasing bow.
Not disgraced but generally well held in a couple of point-to-point starts last year and a number of hurdling defeats since February. Last seen in May and will likely need the experience on first start over fences.
7
Horse silk
40/1
Not the most consistent but put in one of his more pleasing performances at Gowran Park in October before disappointing again in a Down Royal 3m handicap hurdle last month. Market likely to reveal expectations on chasing debut.
8
Horse silk
Oskar Highp18
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: Donagh Meyler| T: N Lee| OR:  104
50/1
100-rated handicap hurdler who will have disappointed connections on first start over the larger obstacles producing a dreadful performance at Cork over 2m5f last month. Others hold sturdier claims.
9
Horse silk
66/1
Limited promise since return from 635 days off over hurdles in the spring. Down the field on a dismal return to action at Galway in October and likely to be up against it on chasing introduction here.
10
Horse silk
Randalls Ur Poet18
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: M J Bolger| T: S Fahey
6/1
Tough and genuine sort who deserves a change of luck. Second of 13 behind Stones And Roses on chasing debut in a Cork beginners contest last month. Another bold show expected.
11
Horse silk
Touch Of Oscar18
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: J J Slevin| T: J P O'Brien| C
7/2
Was beginning to get to grips with hurdling in the spring, culminating in a win over 2m4f in a Clonmel maiden in May. Weakened from three out on chasing debut behind Stones And Roses and Randalls Ur Poet at Cork last month.
12
Horse silk
Bridge Nativet112
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-5| J: P E Corbett| T: Mrs D A Love| D
20/1
109-rated handicap hurdler, the daughter of Stowaway has been running well in defeat in a number of starts over the summer. Well worth a market check as the mare makes her chasing debut.
13
Horse silk
100/1
11-race maiden over hurdles the 83-rated handicapper will need to improve on overall form to play a significant role on her debut over the larger obstacles in this company.
14
Horse silk
Niccolait28
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-5| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: H De Bromhead| D
10/1
Wexford novice hurdle winner in March, the daughter of Flemensfirth made a pleasing start to her chasing career finishing sixth of 16 in a Thurles beginners contest over 2m2f last month. Any market support could be significant.
15
Horse silk
Robin Gold12
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-5| J: M P Fogarty| T: J Fogarty| BF| C
16/1
Had shown nothing until landing a big gamble at Thurles before backing that effort up in a Clonmel 2m3½f handicap at the end of October. Beaten since but could be of some interest on chasing introduction.

Forecasts

Bitsandpieces (11/4), Touch Of Oscar (7/2), Randalls Ur Poet (6/1), Brog Ahaon (7/1), Montagne D'Argent (7/1), Niccolai (10/1), Robin Gold (16/1), Bridge Native (20/1), Jack Holiday (20/1), Love And Wishes (33/1), Mr Jacaranda (40/1), Oskar High (50/1), Pull The Other One (66/1), Myladyrose (100/1), Empire Escape (100/1)

Verdict

No one would begrudge the solid and gutsy gelding RANDALLS UR POET a victory to get him off the mark at the 22nd time of asking for connections on just his second start over fences. The five-year-old finished a gallant second of 13 behind Stones And Roses on chasing debut at Cork last month and can improve here at the expense of the Joseph O'Brien-trained Touch Of Oscar and Bitsandpieces who has hit the frame on both of his last couple of starts over fences in March/April.
  1. Randalls Ur Poet
  2. Touch Of Oscar
  3. Bitsandpieces
