Remains with Nicky Richards, but has been sold by former owners to new connections. For an eight-year-old he is still pretty lightly raced (only had the three starts last season). Some classy form to his name and holds leading claims if fit enough.
Won the Victor Ludorum here as a juvenile when subsequent Fighting Fifth Hurdle winner Cornerstone Lad was back in second. Is fit from the flat, and jockey claims a valuable 5lb. Has to enter considerations.
Made a winning stable debut for this yard over fences in September, and then wasn't disgraced back over hurdles when fifth in this grade at Wetherby (2m; soft). 2lb lower now, but this doesn't look any easier.
Got off the mark in handicap company in fine style when a 10-length winner at Uttoxeter (2m4f; soft) 10 days ago. Yard are back among the winners, and he holds obvious claims if coping with the quick turnaround.
Was astonishingly nabbed right on the line after looking the winner all the way up the home straight at Musselburgh (1m7f; good to soft) last month. Is now 7lb higher and in a better race which slightly tempers enthusiasm.
Bumped into a winner who was given an enterprising ride at Sandown (2m; heavy) on his return to handicap company. Mark is unchanged and some of his form over hurdles is respectable. Place claims once again.
Posted a below-par effort most recently at Wetherby (2m3f; soft) when evidently better was expected (sent off 3-1f). That can be forgiven given his consistent profile overall. However, the form of the yard is a concern (0-27 in the last 14 days).
Has finished in the placings on each of his three starts since returning to action this season, most recently when third at Kelso (2m6f; heavy) in novice company. He would be required to find something on the form of that contest however.
Forecasts
Informateur (2/1), Better Getalong (4/1), Turning Gold (13/2), Nebuchadnezzar (13/2), True Romance (8/1), Romeo Brown (8/1), Newtown Boy (14/1), Get Help (14/1)
Racegoers arguably have to wait until the last race of the day for the best race on the card. Despite the fact he is still 5lb above his last winning mark, even with his riders claim taken into account, Turning Gold has solid place claims on the strength of his form in handicaps last season. Equally, there is a suspicion we are yet to see the best from Better Getalong who makes his seasonal reappearance. This could be his year to land a big pot if he gets his act together. We'll stick with the in-form INFORMATEUR who was a wildly impressive winner at Uttoxeter on his return to action. The fact he is able to run off the same mark here makes him a confident selection.
