Ex-Irish maiden who showed some form mainly for Henry de Bromhead. Shaped with promise last month on British bow for new yard until tiring 2 out. No easy task though off top weight.

Norwegian Woods29
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Alan Johns| T: Tim Vaughan| OR:  99| BF
7/1
Maiden under Rules after six races and has started favourite for last two outings. Beaten when fell last at Hereford last month so has questions to answer.

Showed little in three starts in novice hurdles but shaped well on handicap bow when good second at Chepstow in October. 7lb rise looks harsh but still scope for a big run and should be thereabouts.
4

The Dawn Mant40
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-6| J: L Treadwell| T: Miss C Dyson| OR:  93
25/1
12-race maiden, but ran best race for previous handler Henry Oliver when second over C&D in March off 2lb lower mark. Poor run here after seven-month absence recently on first start for new connections over inadequate 2m.

Failed to take to chasing and pulled up both starts. Returns to hurdles and is not without a chance on pick of previous form. Had wind surgery prior to latest poor run so jury out on whether or not ability is still there.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-1| J: Sean Quinlan| T: J Candlish| OR:  88
16/1
Yet to reach a place in eight starts, first five in Ireland. Steps up form three outings at minimum trip and is tumbling down the weights. Hard to enthuse over though on balance of British runs to date.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-13| J: Alain Cawley| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  86

Won at Newcastle in April over this trip off 1lb higher mark but has disappointed in four starts since. Yard in decent form but has plenty to prove on recent evidence.

Duty Girl120
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-13| J: Henry Brooke| T: Julia Brooke| OR:  86
13/2
Has yet to even reach a place after 14 starts in Ireland and makes British debut here. Has shown its and pieces of form at up to three miles but profile is hardly inspiring.

Had done nothing of note prior to shock 33/1 success at Wincanton last time when trained suggested the tongue-tie had made a big difference. Only a four-year-old and is just 3lb higher now. Solid claims if he has turned over a new leaf.

Only win came on Flat over 1m2f in July 2016. Outran her odds though when second here over nearly 2m penultimate start but then pulled up last time at Fakenham where looked very moody.

Bits and pieces of form for Brian Barr but never managed to win. Shown little in two starts for current yard and had wind surgery prior to lastest poor effort. Hard to enthuse over and tried now in first-time blinkers.

Tis Fantastic (2/1), Robin De Broome (4/1), Duty Girl (13/2), Norwegian Woods (7/1), True Thoughts (17/2), Kilcaragh Boy (10/1), Golan Cloud (16/1), Sandford Castle (20/1), Ex S'elance (22/1), The Dawn Man (25/1), Cold Fusion (33/1), Black Market (66/1)

Verdict

In a race where many of the runners are woefully out of form the unexposed TIS FANTASTIC is fancied to build on his promising handicap debut when second at Chepstow recently. True Thoughts was a surprise recent winner at Wincanton and despite a 7lb rise has claims if in a similar mood, and Norwegian Woods, despite being a beaten favourite on his last two starts, is not out of it if putting his best foot forward. The Dawn Man ran well here last season, while Sandford Castle and Black Market are others for whom some sort of a case can be made.
