Steel Nativeh18
Age: 8|  Weight: 12-7| J: R Patrick(3)| T: D A Rees| OR:  102| CD
5/1
Triple course winner, including over C&D (heavy) last December. 2lb higher than his most recent success, at Bangor in March. Bit to prove after he pulled up here on his reappearance, but claims from this mark if bouncing back.
2

Big Time Frankp15
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-11| J: Rex Dingle(3)| T: P Gundry| OR:  92
9/2
20-race maiden. Can be given a chance from this mark on several efforts earlier this year, but her failure to convert any of those good runs into success has to be a concern.
3
Horse silk
5/2
Almost two years to the day since his only win over hurdles. 0-12 over fences, and hard to fancy from this mark now switching back to the bigger obstacles, based on recent runs in this sphere. Heavy ground also a concern.
4
Horse silk
Dont Be Robinv16
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-4| J: R P McLernon| T: Mrs R Ford| OR:  85
9/2
1-10 over fences, having scored at Chepstow (3m2f, good) in April, when 7lb lower. Arrives in good form, and acts on heavy, but his latest 2lb upward nudge by the assessor might mean he finds one or two too good.

Horse silk
General Malarkeyb116
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-13| J: James Bowen| T: P & M Bowen| OR:  80
16/1
Former Nigel Twiston-Davies inmate who is 0-4 for this trainer and needs to make significant improvement for the fitting of blinkers if he is to win this.
6
Horse silk
Truckers Cailint10
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: T J O'Brien| T: P Henderson| OR:  79
9/4
Point winner who showed little under rules until being just held over hurdles at Plumpton (3m1f, soft) last time, from today's mark. Has been disappointing on both previous chase runs, so now needs to convert that form back to this sphere.
7
Horse silk
Shanann Starp16
Age: 13|  Weight: 10-3| J: Page Fuller(3)| T: G F Edwards| OR:  70| D
8/1
1-29 over fences, and despite a couple of good efforts from earlier in the year that suggest she might get competitive, another win in this field would appear unlikely.

Forecasts

Truckers Cailin (9/4), Definately Vinnie (5/2), Dont Be Robin (9/2), Big Time Frank (9/2), Steel Native (5/1), Shanann Star (8/1), General Malarkey (16/1)

Verdict

Steel Native gets in from a couple of pounds higher than the race's ceiling rating and if better for his latest run he would be a big player. Big Time Frank clearly can't be trusted from a win perspective, but may still collect some prize money, while Dont Be Robin needs to pull out more to score from this mark. The suggestion is TRUCKERS CAILIN, who sparked into life over hurdles last time, and looks worth chancing back in this discipline.
  1. Truckers Cailin
  2. Dont Be Robin
  3. Steel Native
