Veteran who has some useful form next to his name. Came back to finish second at Kempton in March (3m) but probably needed the run when pulling up at Huntingdon last time. Well treated on old form but needs more of a revival once again.

Yet to fire in two chase starts this season finishing tailed off in both, including when fourth of five at Newcastle (3m) on latest start. Dropped 2lb in the handicap however and does have winning form over C&D.

Useful sort for previous yard and finished stint there when third in the Highland National at Perth. Was making some steady progress before falling five out on first start for this yard at Hexham (4m) last time. Claims if hasn't left a mark.

Took advantage of light mark to win at Sedgefield in March (2m4f) but jumping errors let him down when eighth of 11 at this track (2m5f) on chasing debut. 4lb lighter in this but remains high enough in the handicap.

Winner of this race last year but has failed to get his head in front since, including 63L fifth in 3m Warwick handicap chase last time. Remains 3lb above winning mark for last year's renewal so career-best required.
6
Horse silk
Clondaw Riggert21
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-6| J: Benjamin Poste| T: Katy Price| OR:  104| CD
7/2
C&D winner in the past and seemingly bounced back to his best form after poor seasonal debut with 2L third at Chepstow (3m) earlier this month. Only raised 1lb for that and has leading claims.

Conas Taoi215
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-10| J: James Bowen| T: Christian Williams| OR:  94| BF| D

Winner at Carlisle in February and ran into the places in each start since then, including when 2L third in 3m2f Chepstow handicap chase when last seen in April. Place claims on seasonal debut.

Stupid Cupid26
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-4| J: Sean Houlihan(3)| T: Sheila Lewis| OR:  88| BF
12/1
Shock 25/1 winner at Worcester two starts ago but proved that to be no fluke when 4L second in Uttoxeter handicap chase (2m6f) at the start of the month. 2lb hike suggests handicapper is giving no chances.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-3| J: Adam Wedge| T: Christian Williams| OR:  87
8/1
Still a maiden after ten races under rules and didn't impress when bad mistake cost him any chance in C&D contest earlier this month. Tumbling down the weights but out of form of present.

High Counselp15
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-1| J: Alexander Thorne(7)| T: G Hanmer| OR:  85| CD
6/1
C&D winner in 2017 and hasn't won since then, only appearing five times. Took a step back in the right direction over C&D last time when staying on third. Off the same mark for this so entitled to place claims.

Inconsistent sort. Last win came in C&D race back in January but pulled up in Exeter handicap chase when last seen in March. Could be on a going day but hard to judge.

Jurys Out (11/4), Clondaw Rigger (7/2), Hard To Forget (4/1), Royal Claret (11/2), High Counsel (6/1), Perpignan (8/1), Conas Taoi (9/1), Nakadam (10/1), Stupid Cupid (12/1), Copperfacejack (20/1), Ultimatum Du Roy (40/1), Some Finish (50/1)

Verdict

A trappy-looking affair with plenty of course form brought to the table, preference is for CLONDAW RIGGER, who showed that his seasonal return was just a blip with a fine second at Chepstow last time. He still looks to be well-treated by the handicapper unlike others and could get his head back in front. Jurys Out was starting to make progress before stumbling last time, if his jumping holds sway in this contest he looks to be well-treated too, while the likes of Conas Taoi and High Counsel tend to run to their mark but will need more if to get competitive.
  1. Clondaw Rigger
  2. Jurys Out
  3. High Counsel
