Attracted support on his bumper debut (6-1) at Market Rasen but offered little in the actual race never really going that well. Clearly capable of better and in good hands; now makes his hurdling debut, worth noting in the market again.

Modest form at best in a bumper and two novice hurdles (pulled up last time) and unlikely to cut much ice here on his third hurdles outing. Hard to see him starting at least than the treble-figure price he has on his last two hurdles starts.
Off the mark in Irish point-to-points at the second attempt he started favourite for his bumper debut but wasn't seen to best effect finishing third. Proved a disappointment on his hurdling debut after seven months off, should do better.

One bumper run to his name where he went with little promise beating just one home at Stratford earlier in the year. Very green on that occasion he was easily left behind; now makes his hurdles debut, little impact expected.
Third on his sole Irish point-to-point start (stayed on well) he was subsequently sold for £42,000. Didn't settle fully on his Ffos Las bumper debut at a time his yard wasn't really firing, in better form now, more expected on hurdles debut.

Expensive point-to-point purchase (£150,000) after winning his sole start in that sphere. Also successful on bumper debut in May (better than bare form); also shaped well on hurdles debut (testing conditions); sure to do better in time.

Maiden in point-to-points he showed some fair form on his only bumper start in Ireland before showing an aptitude for hurdling on his debut for this yard. Took a keen hold last time (needs to settle better), more of a future in handicaps.

Fair on the Flat winning a 2m AW handicap late last year off a mark of 61 for Harry Dunlop. Not lived up to that level of form in four starts for this yard; now goes hurdling for the first time.

Second on only completed Irish point-to-point start his form under Rules is so far a bit of a mixed bag although he has shown some promise. Shaped better than finishing position last time (first run back from a wind op); stable remain in top form.

Fairly useful on the Flat taking a 2m AW handicap off 75 earlier this year although he has once or twice not convinced with his attitude. Ran poorly when last seen on the level; now makes his stable/hurdles debut.

Nothing out of the ordinary about his form in a couple of bumpers the start to his hurdling career promised much more with a third at Huntingdon. Looks likely to need a greater test of stamina to be fully effective, yard remain in good form.
Produced a taking first effort in a good Cheltenham bumper last month with the lack of experience looking to find him out in the end. Should know far more this time for his hurdles debut for a yard that has been in decent form this autumn.

Useful sort on the Flat; twice a winner at up to 1m6f when with Charlie Appleby last year. A £28,000 purchase for his current connections he showed an aptitude for hurdling on his Hereford debut; likely to know/show more this time.

Modest on the Flat with a career record that reads 1-23 and in poor form of late in that sphere. Only makes limited appeal on her hurdles debut in a field where its not hard to find those with clearer cut chances.

Took six attempts to get off the mark in Irish Point-to-points prior to being given a considerate introduction under Rules over hurdles at Worcester last month. Expected to come on for that run, should do better in time; looks a handicap project.

Neither run in bumpers was particularly inspiring being beaten 47L here when last seen earlier in the year. Now returns from a long absence having has a wind op; makes very little appeal in the context of this contest.

Forecasts

The Newest One (5/2), Garry Clermont (3/1), Rock On Tiger (7/2), Winds Of Fire (6/1), Bourbon Borderline (7/1), Lough Har (14/1), Moon of Baroda (18/1), Court Glory (33/1), Filou Des Issards (33/1), Jack Thunder (33/1), Apache Creek (40/1), Looking For Carl (50/1), Fair To Dream (100/1), Bob's Girl (100/1), Sunny Girl (100/1), Bells Of Barnack (100/1)

Verdict

A race with plenty of depth and some interesting types in opposition one or two of the hurdling debutants of particular interest headed by The Newest One who fourth in a Cheltenham bumper on debut reads well. Filou Des Issards another expected to step up on his bumper debut also. Of those with hurdling experience WINDS OF FIRE and Rock On Tiger lead the way with the former of that duo having shown some useful form on the Flat, this test around here should suit him, whilst the latter looks to need a stiffer test. Jonjo O’Neill saddles two and both are worthy of attention although Garry Clermont would be the pick with this slightly better surface and shorter trip looking to suit.
  1. Winds Of Fire
  2. Garry Clermont
  3. The Newest One
