Change of tactics and pilot have seen a resurgence in the form of the track stalwart. Winner over C&D on a couple of occasions, the latest last month, the gelding can once again give a good account.
Winner of two of his nine starts here including a win over C&D. Fifth of 14 beaten 3½L behind Geological on his most recent start over C&D last month. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals.
Won for the second time in his career when landing a Leopardstown 1m handicap on good to firm ground in July on his final start for trainer Kevin Prendergast. Place claims on stable debut.
Fourth of 14 beaten 3L last month finishing 3L adrift of Geological over C&D. Ran with credit on latest start earlier this month and one for any shortlist here.
Has taken to this surface well boasting a record of a win and four place efforts from five starts here. Second of 11 not beaten far over C&D earlier in the month and capable of a bold bid.
Running well in defeat in three starts, badly hampered after leaving the stalls on last run, since returning to this surface in September. Has finished behind Geological on his last couple of starts and may have to again.
A win and a second on only two runs for John Gosden last year but sold for just 11,000 gns in May. Encouraging ninth of 13 beaten 5L behind Geological over 6f earlier this month. Needs a few to falter.
Won for the third time in his career when landing the spoils over C&D late last month off a 5lb lower mark. Clear and obvious chance in this contest.
Best effort for a while when running No Speed Limit to 1¼L over C&D late last month off a similar mark. Looks an improving sort and merits plenty of respect in first-time visor.
Mixed bag of returns this term in a number of starts on turf over the summer. Yet to win in seven starts at this track including on three occasions over C&D. Looks up against it.
Early season promise appears to have leveled out to a certain degree following a couple of below-par efforts since September. Well adrift of Geological finishing 11th of 14 over C&D last month. Needs to show more sparkle.
Consistent sort, winner of two of her four starts over C&D. Needs to improve on recent efforts but no surprise to witness a big run.
Distance winner on turf, the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor ran well in defeat on first visit to this track before an improved effort to finish second of 14 behind No Speed Limit over C&D last month. Shortlisted.
Forecasts
Katiymann (11/4), Mutadaawel (10/3), Sirjack Thomas (9/2), Never Back Down (7/1), Geological (10/1), No Speed Limit (12/1), Outside Inside (14/1), Angels (16/1), Ducky Mallon (20/1), Raphael (20/1), Highly Approved (25/1), Nordic Passage (33/1), Emphatic (33/1)
Wide open finale where trainer Adrian McGuinness saddles four runners. The most dangerous of the four could turn out to be Sirjack Thomas who is likely to appreciate the drop back to 7f here, while the Roderic O'Connor gelding Raphael looks interesting for the trainer on stable debut. The tough and genuine GEOLOGICAL has been rejuvenated by a change of tactics with the seven-year-old settling behind the leaders before making his move over C&D in October and over 6f earlier this month. If his revised mark is too much the Mick Halford-trained Katiymann is more than likely to pick up the pieces. Mutadaawel and No Speed Limit should not be dismissed.
- Geological
- Katiymann
- Sirjack Thomas
