Some good efforts to his name but has disappointed on occasions (leaves the feeling he should have won more than he has). Ran a typical race last time (first run back from wind op) that gave hope for the future; well handicapped off this mark.
Returned from a second wind op to run a race full of promise (shaping well again in a handicap); soft conditions appearing to take their toll after seven months off. Dropped 2lb for that last effort, gets a fine chance to make amends up in trip.
Bumper/hurdles winner who has failed to build on his promising first chasing efforts, falling on both occasions since (very keen last time). Brought back to the smaller obstacles; still doubts about his ability to settle; rather watch than support.
C&D winner in similar conditions last year off a 12lb lower mark although he did produce his best effort over hurdles when last seen in this sphere in March. Just one Flat (AW) run since then (back in June); can't be ruled out, yard not quite firing.
Would surely have won and made a winning handicap debut when departing at the last over C&D last time (travelled well all the way round). That was a big improvement on his previous form; strong claims if the fall hasn't left a mark.
Forecasts
Barntown (7/4), Theo's Charm (7/4), King D'Argent (5/1), Deebaj (8/1), Du Soleil (11/1)
A complex little affair where the whole quintet can lay some sort of claim to winning this. Barntown looked to have the race in safe keeping when coming down at the last on his handicap debut last week he runs off the same mark here and looks sure to go close if he hasn’t suffered any ill-effects. KING D’ARGENT looked in need of his Chepstow return and off a 2lb lower mark the Fred Winter fourth can open his handicap account. Theo’s Charm often runs a sound race but does have difficulty finishing his races off while Deebaj faces a more difficult task than when recording his C&D victory off a much lower mark.
