0-12 on the Flat; he was last seen in this sphere in a seller at Leicester (1m2f, good) in October 2018. Raced disappointedly over hurdles since, including on first start for eight months at Uttoxeter (2m, soft) four weeks ago. Best watched.
Has won twice on turf for the yard this year although he does have his quirks which don't always allow him to give his running. Comes here off the back of two poor runs at Redcar and Southwell (both 1m) and is difficult to trust.
Won off 4lb higher at Chelmsford (6f, Polytrack) back in March. Ran well on his last three starts (6f/7f/1m) and is fairly handicapped if in the same form again.
Well backed when winning off 1lb lower at Lingfield early in the year, his subsequent outings have been very poor until shaping with more promise at Kempton (1m, Polytrack) 74 days ago. Any market support would be noteworthy.
Best effort in five starts for this yard came when 5L fifth over at Brighton (1m, good to firm) in August. Has only beaten one rival in three subsequent outings but is very well handicapped if bouncing back to anywhere near his best.
Prevailed over 7f at Chepstow back in July. Has failed to follow that up in six runs since then. He was last of eight on his latest effort at Chelmsford (7f, Polytrack). Headgear dispensed with others are preferred.
Won on handicap debut at Yarmouth (1m, good) in May and was a good second at Newmarket (1m, good) shortly after. Has been disappointing on his last two efforts after a break, however, and a hood is now added.
Ran fairly in four starts for this yard earlier in the year, most recently finishing third at Chepstow (1m, good) back in June. Off since then and has undergone a wind operation, she is open to more improvement than most.
A win and a second on firm ground at Bath this year but out of form since the most recent of those in August. Beaten 4½L at Lingfield (1m2f, Polytrack) last time and blinkers now replace cheekpieces.
Won at Brighton off 2lb higher mark in June 2018 and has only run three times since, being well beaten each time. Keep an eye the market, however, as the last twice he was a single-figure price, he has won.
C&D winner of 3lb lower back in August but has been beaten in three runs since. Was restless in the stalls when finishing last of 13 at Chelmsford (1m, Polytrack) on her latest outing but not entirely ruled out if back to her best.
20-race maiden who hasn't run too badly in his last two starts at Kempton (7f/1m, Polytrack). Has worn cheekpieces and blinkers in the past but a visor now added for the first time.
Broke his maiden over C&D last time out, getting up late to prevail on the line. Up 3lb but this isn't the most competitive and with confidence boosted, has a good chance of following-up.
Forecasts
Star Of Valour (11/4), Weloof (3/1), Scoffsman (11/2), Gottardo (7/1), Perfect Grace (15/2), Ghazan (11/1), Ballet Red (16/1), French Twist (16/1), Deleyll (25/1), Roller (33/1), Canadian George (33/1), Gold Hunter (66/1), Thornaby Nash (66/1)
After breaking his maiden over C&D 17 days ago, STAR OF VALOUR is the selection to follow-up in a contest where there are few serious contenders. After three good runs of late, Gottardo reaches the shortlist and is still well-handicapped on her winning form earlier this year and whilst Ballet Red has only had four starts in Britain and can make the frame if benefitting from a wind operation during her 5-month break. Weloof and Deleyll should be checked too for any strong market moves.
- Star Of Valour
- Gottardo
- Ballet Red
