Not fluent at a number of flights when finishing fourth of 20 beaten 24L on hurdling debut at Galway on soft ground late last month. Not to be taken lightly.

Second of eight in an October 2017 point-to-point and a £50,000 buy for connections soon after. Clearly had his trainer problems as the Arakan gelding has not been seen since pulling up in a Wexford maiden hurdle in June last year. Market check.

Presenting gelding deserves a change in fortunes following a number of close calls in bumpers since December last year. Not seen since April but likely to be well schooled for hurdling debut.

Gelding by Sans Frontieres out of a Beneficial mare. Inexpensive buy as a three-year-old. Will need to improve on dismal hurdling debut at Galway late last month.
5
Horse silk

Gold Well mare out of a Presenting mare. Dam placed in bumpers/2m hurdles. Not disgraced on bumper debut at Listowel when last seen in September. Looks opposable on hurdling debut.

€150,000 purchase and related to three winners in France. Posted a career best effort when finishing second of 12 beaten over 9L in a Tramore maiden hurdle over 2m on soft to heavy ground last month. Likely to run well once again.
7
Horse silk
100/1
Gold Well gelding out of a Fourstars Allstar mare. Has posted a number of dismal point-to-point efforts and is possibly best watched on hurdling debut.
8
Horse silk
10/3
Walk In The Park gelding, cost a cool €140,000. Fourth of 11 beaten 23L on debut in a Leopardstown bumper when last seen in December. Likely to be well schooled for hurdling debut from respected connections.
9
Horse silk
14/1
Cost connections €46,000 at the sales in 2017. Lightly raced gelding, fourth of 19 beaten 27L on hurdling debut at Punchestown on fist racecourse appearance for 18 months. Hard to place any faith in.

Son of Morozov who pulled up on his only start in a point-to-point start in March before a dismal effort on hurdling debut at Fairyhouse last month. Likely to find it tough going here.

Had some useful soft ground point-to-point form early in the year winning her last two starts over 3m. Well held on a couple of initial starts over hurdles and may be better suited when moving into handicap company.

33/1
Solid form in a couple of recent point-to-point efforts but needs to improve on sole effort over hurdles at Cork in April last year pulling up when tailed off before two out.

Forecasts

Vis Ta Loi (3/1), Braeside (10/3), K'chou Du Pecos Aa (10/3), Email Rose (4/1), Thunder Down Under (12/1), Millen To One (14/1), Arahecan (20/1), Monty's Mission (33/1), Da Big Fella (66/1), Direct Image (100/1), Campo Viego (100/1), More Music (100/1), Imperial Man (100/1)

Verdict

Trainer Willie Mullins appears to have found an ideal opening for the John Magnier-owned gelding, K'CHOU DU PECOS AA to get off the mark over hurdles at the first attempt. The Walk In The Park gelding wouldn't have to improve too much on an encouraging effort in a Leopardstown bumper last December to lay claims to this contest. Dangers in the race are likely to come from the Henry De Bromhead pair Email Rose, the mount of Robbie Power and Arahecan who is better than his last run at Wexford in June suggests. Thunder Down Under and Braeside both representing trainer Gordon Elliott should not be underestimated.
  1. K'chou Du Pecos Aa
  2. Email Rose
  3. Arahecan
