Generally well held in four chasing efforts to date including a 30L defeat when last seen in December in a Limerick beginners contest over a similar trip. Looks opposable.

Western Sea16
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-8| J: L P Dempsey| T: R O'Sullivan| OR:  112
10/1
Improvement continued for the Westerner gelding when landing a Sligo 2m5f beginners contest on good to yielding ground in September; showed up well for a long way on handicap debut at Thurles last time out and worth giving another chance to.

Horse silk
Princely Conn14
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-7| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: T Mullins| OR:  111

Dual hurdles winner, coming to chasing late at 10-years-old and four autumn starts have not offered a lot to be positive about.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-5| J: Liam Quinlan(7)| T: D Queally| OR:  109

Fell on chasing debut at Clonmel earlier in the year but well backed to land the spoils in a Tramore 2m novice chase on soft to heavy ground earlier this month. Repeat of that effort should see the mare back in the hunt for more prize money.

Fairly Legal266
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-5| J: Mark Walsh| T: R Tyner| OR:  109| BF| C
7/1
Well backed last time out at Gowran Park but ran into a better handicapped rival; back up a few pounds for that effort but should run his race though has obviously had training problems.
6
Horse silk
Carrigreadyb23
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-3| J: C D Maxwell| T: V Halley| OR:  107
12/1
Yet to win over fences but put in best chasing effort at Navan on his penultimate start (sent hurdling next time); still looks on a reasonable mark and no reason why he can't run well.

Sea Scorpiont23
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-8| J: J P O'Sullivan(7)| T: Miss E Doyle| OR:  98
12/1
Finished over 6L adrift of the improving Mohart in a Downpatrick 2m2f beginners contest in September but disappointed last time out at Tramore; needs to bounce back to play a leading role here.

Maiden hurdle winner at Killarney (2m6f, good) in May. Well held on all four starts over fences so far including last time out at Punchestown in October; others preferred.
9

Golden Sunset40
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-5| J: N P Madden| T: N Madden| OR:  95
28/1
Has been left toiling in four starts over fences so far; difficult to see where any obvious improvement will come from.
10
Horse silk
Hilltop Supreme9
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-5| J: A W Short(3)| T: D E Fitzgerald| OR:  95
10/1
Lacks overall reliability to be given a serious chance and the maiden has not been done any favours by the handicapper.

Trumps Ace184
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-5| J: R P Treacy(5)| T: T Doyle| OR:  95
14/1
Hints of ability in bumper/hurdles career so far and landed mares' maiden point-to-point in March; last couple of runs have suggested she has reasonable claims to land a place off her current mark.

Arctic Light57
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Darragh O'Keeffe| T: T Mullins| OR:  90
9/4
Has mainly been hurdling of late; has raced in five chases in his career and only beaten one horse home; that pretty much sums up his chances.

Forecasts

Arctic Light (9/4), Ask Heather (11/4), Fairly Legal (7/1), Hilltop Supreme (10/1), Western Sea (10/1), Carrigready (12/1), Sea Scorpion (12/1), Trumps Ace (14/1), Manger Et Trotter (16/1), Fiveaftermidnight (20/1), Princely Conn (25/1), Golden Sunset (28/1)

Verdict

No stand out performers or well handicapped chasers in the line-up making it difficult to find an obvious selection. A tentative nod is given to Carrigready who ran well when finishing runner-up on her last chase appearance at Navan over this trip. He was doing his best work in the closing stages that day. Fairly Legal has been upped in the handicap for a useful effort last time out when coming up against a better handicapped rival. Expect him to run his race especially if the money is down. Western Sea has a reasonable level of consistency which suggest he may run into a place if not better.
  1. Carrigready
  2. Fairly Legal
  3. Western Sea
