Been a long time between drinks for this one (last success came back in 2017) with his recent exploits hardly looking as though he's going to end that moribund spell. May well have needed his recent hurdles comeback, drops in class but best watched.

Back in blinkers last time ran a moody race as is his won't at times and he's not one to rely on despite his mark continuing to fall. Takes a further ease in grade/drop in the handicap but really can't be trusted on that score.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-11| J: Rex Dingle| T: C J Mann| OR:  109| D

Has had his quirks in the past but appeared to turn over a new leaf at times last year landing back-to-back staying handicaps finding plenty for pressure each time. Turned in a lacklustre display when last seen (can jump poorly); needs a real test to

Lively Article22
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-11| J: Jack Tudor(3)| T: Mrs F Kehoe| OR:  109
11/1
Point-to-point winner who made a successful Rules debut over hurdles running well again in that sphere four months later. Needed the run handicap/chase debut recently over 2m4f; on a fair mark if he can build on that start, worthy of consideration.

Point N Shootb27
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-11| J: Tom Buckley(3)| T: N J Hawke| OR:  109
33/1
Fair sort in staying handicap hurdles who has limited experience over fences (0-3); would have been out of his depth last time in this discipline. Failed to complete other two chasing starts; ought to able to compete off this mark if he gets his act

Swincombe Scorchiot520
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-5| J: Lorcan Williams| T: P Gundry| OR:  103| CD
28/1
C&D winner who returns from a major absence (10lb below his winning mark here); seemingly gone the wrong way before his break. Will do well to be competitive having been away from the track for so long.

Clondaw Riggert12
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-5| J: Bryan Carver(3)| T: Katy Price| OR:  103| CD
4/1
Progressing well last year winning back-to-back handicaps the first of those over C&D. Not seen again until recent having had a wind op in the meantime; backed at long odds but showed very little making his delayed hat-trick bid; easier task here.

Big Meadow186
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-1| J: Max Kendrick| T: N B King| OR:  99| BF| C| D
5/1
Struggled for the most part over fences since opening his account in this sphere back at the start of 2018. Eleven consecutive defeats since then despite falling 17lb below that last winning mark; did hint at a revival last time; care needed still.

The Manuscriptp121
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-8| J: Edward Austin(6)| T: J & A O'Neill| OR:  92| BF| D
11/2
Hurdles winner who left his debut chase form well behind when taking a Warwick 3m handicap off a 2lb lower mark (well supported). Worrying that he folded up tamely when trying to follow up; still unexposed in this sphere if returning to form.

Knight Ofthe Realmp213
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: Sean Houlihan| T: R H Buckler| OR:  82
25/1
Only completed once since joining this yard with the letter P a far more frequent occurrence on his form figures. Hard to recommend back from a long absence with that background from 2lb out of the weights.

Forecasts

On The Road (10/3), Clondaw Rigger (4/1), Big Meadow (5/1), The Manuscript (11/2), The Ogle Gogle Man (11/2), Lively Article (11/1), Exxaro (16/1), Knight Ofthe Realm (25/1), Swincombe Scorchio (28/1), Point N Shoot (33/1)

Verdict

Not that many with solid profiles and this event will require some reading between the lines to solve. CLONDAW RIGGER was an improving sort last year before his season was cut short. Given a fairly stiff task on his comeback at Cheltenham this ease in grade on his second start back from wind surgery ought to help him revert to winning ways; he won on this card last year. The Ogle Goggle Man isn’t the easiest ride but on occasions last season he looked capable enough in this sphere. The Manuscript needs to bounce back but is still unexposed over fences while both Point N Shoot and Lively Article can be given chances, the latter shaping nicely last time.
  1. Clondaw Rigger
  2. The Manuscript
  3. Lively Article
