Not beaten far last time, and had been second in handicaps off this sort of mark on her previous three starts. Blinkers she wore on first of those runs are now refitted.

Magic Mirrorp131
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-10| J: Tom Marquand| T: M G Rimell| OR:  71| CD
12/1
Has a good record here, winning seven of her 25 starts. Below form on recent starts, but has been given a break, and back on her last winning mark, so respected.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-8| J: Stefano Cherchi(7)| T: M Botti| OR:  71

Much her best effort when winning a 1¼m handicap at Chelmsford in August, but well below form there last time, and needs to bounce back now dropped in trip.

Quarry Beachp126
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-8| J: David Probert| T: H Candy| OR:  71

In frame five times this year at 7f/1m and although she was below form last time, her consistent record prior to that suggests she will bounce back. Cheekpieces tried for first time.

On the same mark as when beaten ½L at Lingfield in January, but he's been below that form in subsequent starts, and has something to prove at present.

Gregorian Girl40
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: M Dwyer| T: D K Ivory| OR:  68| CD

Gained reward for her consistency when landing a C&D handicap last time, and seems best on AW. Bit more needed to follow up from a wide draw, but she's not underestimated.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: Rossa Ryan| T: P & O Cole| OR:  67

Off mark in handicaps when justifying market support in a 7f event at Brighton in July. Unexposed, and may have more to offer assuming he's ready to fire after a four-month break.

Winter Gleam171
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: Jason Watson| T: W J Knight| OR:  67
33/1
Placed twice in nurseries last autumn, but she has been soundly beaten this term, and visor she wore when running poorly at Newmarket last time is left off. Has slipped to a handy mark, but must prove she's trained on.

Colonel Sladep,t16
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: Danny Redmond(5)| T: Phillip Makin| OR:  67| D

Has had breathing surgery since leaving Brian Meehan in the summer. and successful on both starts for new connections on Tapeta, making all in cheekpieces at Wolverhampton last time. Every chance of bringing up his hat-trick now.

Cuttin' Edge14
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-2| J: Nicola Currie| T: W R Muir| OR:  63| D
9/1
Best when dictating, and won at Salisbury in August. Not discredited on next two starts. Possible to blame heavy ground for a poor run last time, but no soft lead to be had here.

Altar Boy4
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Shariq Mohd(7)| T: S Kirk| OR:  65
20/1
Has been struggling for form since the spring, and makes little appeal on recent evidence with the handicapper slow to cut him any slack.

Forecasts

Colonel Slade (7/2), River Dawn (5/1), Quarry Beach (6/1), Perfecimperfection (13/2), Gregorian Girl (7/1), Delicate Kiss (8/1), Cuttin' Edge (9/1), Magic Mirror (12/1), Altar Boy (20/1), Mr Mac (33/1), Winter Gleam (33/1)

Verdict

COLONEL SLADE has improved to win both his starts since wind/surgery/joining Philip Makin, and he can make it a hat-trick given he still seems to be progressing. River Dawn is coming back from a break, but was a cosy winner at Brighton, and still figures on a handy mark, so is respected, as is Magic Mirror, who can go well fresh, and is back to her last winning mark.
  1. Colonel Slade
  2. River Dawn
  3. Magic Mirror
