Promising sort with a couple of non-handicap wins to his name prior to finishing second in two top 3yo handicap the form of both events looking strong. Disappointed on his last try at this trip but should stay; unexposed on the AW, respected.

Returns to a more acceptable level having been used as a pacemaker on his last two starts; better judged on his form earlier in the year, a Navan Listed win (1m5f) his best performance. First try in handicap company, placed on the AW before.

Course winner over 7f as a 2yo her only win this year came over this trip at Newmarket off a 3lb lower mark. Not disgraced since off higher marks and last time in Listed company the feeling is that she will need a couple to falter to take this.

Three staying wins to his name this year with the last two coming in small-field handicaps off lower marks. Has run respectably since then in handicaps before coming unstuck in the Cesarewitch (looked amiss); makes his Polytrack debut down in trip.

Progressed nicely in handicaps since midsummer; his latest win coming over 2m at Musselburgh off a 5lb lower mark. Failed to cope with the rise to Listed class last time on heavy ground (laboured display); needs to bounce back from that performance.

Twice an AW winner this year, once over C&D on his handicap debut (made all). Up 10lb following that 6L victory at Doncaster he failed to cope with his new mark despite being well positioned in the race; may do better returned to the AW.

Has the look of a progressive sort going 2-2 since being stepped up in trip on turf getting his act together after shaping with promise earlier in the year. Looks the sort to make a better 4yo with longer trips likely to suit; up 5lb, more to offer.

Started the year in rather disappointing fashion suffering defeats as favourite on his first two handicap starts over shorter trips. Made the most of a good opportunity back from a break last time when winning a Pontefract maiden; more to do here.

Only win came here (1m5f) in an uncompetitive novice although he does have some solid handicap form to his name prior and after that victory. Gave his running at York last time when a 33-1 chance; faces another tough challenge from out the weights.

Verdict

Quite rightly this is a competitive affair with some progressive form on offer. Western Australia will find this a great deal easier than the Group-race challenges he’s been set since his win at Navan earlier in the year; he must be a contender along with First In Line. John Gosden’s top weight has some rock-solid handicap form with both the horses who have defeated him in those races wining again; he’ll be a danger to all. TAMMOOZ is chosen to complete his hat-trick having found his feet of late and looks just the sort to be suited by this test. Emirates Empire likely to be happier back on the AW and Just Hubert despite needing to bounce back are two others who can be given a second glance.
