Learnt plenty from his debut when taking a 1m maiden at Leopardstown before effectively being used as a pacemaker for Mogul over the same C&D but in Group 2 company. Given an easier task here with his stablemate to beat up to 1m2f for the first time.

Looks as though stamina is his strong suit as he was well suited by the 1m1f trip in testing ground last time out at Leopardstown at Group 3 level. Already a winner at Galway (1m) his run last time was a good riposte to a poor effort the time before.

Well-bred sort who failed to meet market expectations on his Wolverhampton debut over an extended 1m1f; slow away, never really travelling. Should know more this time around but has a stiff task versus the two O'Brien colts who are more experienced.

No match in the end for the odds-on favourite on his Newcastle (1m2f) debut but gave that one a fair scare before being defeated 6L. Offered plenty to work on amongst the inexperience; better to come but ultimately something to find on form.

Verdict

The Aidan O’Brien duo stand head and shoulders above the other trio and it won’t be a surprise to see then land a 1-2 in this event. Persia looks the pick of the pair who will enjoy this 1m2f trip having finished off his race well at Leopardstown last time; on official ratings he has 4lb in hand of his stablemate. Cormorant is a worthy opponent and will provide a stiff enough test after his good fifth to Mogul last time out. Warranty will have learnt plenty from his Newcastle exploits and although this is another stiff task he should be able to take third behind the O’Brien pair.
