4/1
Wound up last season winning in this grade by 7L at Ayr (good). Acts on soft, and three of his six wins have been at this track, including in this race last year. Up 10lb, which makes this tough, but freshened up post-wind surgery and has claims.

18/1
Has won 5-14 chases, the last two at Cartmel this season at up to 2m5f and including on good to soft. Well held last time, however, so has to bounce back to his best to score in this field.

11/2
Multiple chase winner from 2m4f-2m5f, including on soft. Scored in this grade in a mares' chase at Huntingdon in January. Matched that in a mares' handicap when last seen at Cheltenham in April. Goes well fresh and should be very competitive.

4-17 over fences, two of those wins being over C&D (on good/heavy). 5lb higher than the latter, last November, when fresh, but still on a very competitive mark. Remains of interest.

7/2
Won this in 2017 on route to winning Cheltenham's Caspian Caviar Gold Cup six weeks later (2m5f, soft), when 1lb lower than today. Second in this last year and last seen 16½L third to Frodon back at Cheltenham. Hugely respected on his return.

Well held on his reappearance in this race two years ago (behind Guitar Pete), but a season campaigner in these sort of races, and a former BetVictor Gold Cup winner. Class act on his day, but had none of those last season.

Cracking Find16
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-8| J: Danny Cook| T: J Parkinson & S Smith| OR:  134| C| D
7/1
Point winner who has had more success at around 2m over fences. 3lb higher than his last win, at Doncaster in January, but went close next time from higher than this. Should strip fitter for recent run and stable won this in 2015 with Wakanda.

Go Long237
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-3| J: Adam Wedge| T: Evan Williams| OR:  129| BF
9/2
Last win came in a Hereford novices' chase (2m, good to soft) in January, but bettered that when third back there next time. Open to improvement now upped in trip. Goes well fresh and looks a big player under a feather weight.

Forecasts

Guitar Pete (7/2), Born Survivor (4/1), Go Long (9/2), Happy Diva (11/2), Catamaran Du Seuil (7/1), Cracking Find (7/1), Splash of Ginge (10/1), Demi Sang (18/1)

Verdict

A good handicap chase in prospect, with Cracking Find representing a team that has done so well here over a long period and another potential winner after a recent pipe-opener. Guitar Pete has to be afforded plenty of respect if taking him on, with Happy Diva and Born Survivor both also feared in opposition. Go Long adds another potential twist from the foot of the weights, but CATAMARAN DU SEUIL goes well here and when fresh, and he could prove very tough to beat.
  1. Catamaran Du Seuil
  2. Born Survivor
  3. Guitar Pete
