Back after a wind operation and now tongue-tied, this gelding had shown promise last winter, prior to pulling up when last seen in April. Trainer has had winners on this card before. Interesting.

Won a Bangor bumper (heavy) two seasons ago, but 0-9 over hurdles since then. Drops back in trip for this reappearance. Can be competitive from this mark, but more needed for a first hurdles win.

Reverts to hurdles after having been chasing for three runs prior to Christmas last year (had run well over equivalent chase trip here). Probably one to watch on his reappearance.

Dual 2m4f hurdle winner, including last time out on good to soft at Worcester. Up 8lb for that, but favourite second there and front pair 16L clear, so he still looks well treated for this follow-up bid.

1-11 over hurdles, having scored at Aintree (2m4f, good to soft) in June, when 1lb lower. Held last time, so given a break since. Has never won when fresh, and others looks less exposed.

Ran well from this mark at Newcastle (2m½f, good to soft) in March, having gone close over 2m4f on her previous start. Lost her way after that, but is back freshened up and looks sure to win one of these before too long.

Not devoid of promise on his second hurdles start, nor is he badly treated on this handicap debut. Should be no fitness concerns after a Flat run in September, and not ruled out.

Was making steady improvement until being well held here (3m, soft) when last seen in March. Will need to kick on again if she is to win from this mark on her reappearance.

Showed an occasional flicker of ability in a bumper and a hurdle for Micky Hammond. Changed hands since last seen here in March, and hard to fancy.

Hood goes on for this first run since February, but can't be fancied on what we have seen from him so far.

Has made the frame just once from 13 starts over hurdles. Did the same on her chase debut at Market Rasen recently, but more needed back in this sphere.

Forecasts

North Star Oscar (9/4), Cash To Ash (11/2), Rubytwo (13/2), No Trumps (7/1), Fifth Symphony (17/2), Petitioner (12/1), Passam (16/1), Seapoint (16/1), The Sting (16/1), Vintage Glen (20/1), Ballyfarsoon (33/1)

Verdict

Fifth Symphony is interesting for a trainer who does well on his raids here, while Rubytwo and Petitioner could both get involved. No Trumps needs improvement, but an 8lb claimer up may well help. However, clear preference is for NORTH STAR OSCAR, who still looks well treated after an 8lb rise for his recent Worcester win.
  1. North Star Oscar
  2. Fifth Symphony
  3. No Trumps
