Dual C&D winner who has shown some fair form since without winning in this sphere (has won over hurdles); not disgraced over C&D last time but never looked like winning. Should remain competitive with the yard showing signs of life.

Faced a stiff task when taken to France last time to run in a soft ground 1m6f claimer (beat just one home). Will find this a more suitable test although he's not really threatened in his previous two Fibresand attempts; improvement needed.

Fibresand newcomer from a stable who usually know the time of day with their debutants on this surface. Failed to show much in a couple of starts for this yard so far and over all his AW form is poor; given a chance by the handicapper.

Consistent if rather hard to win with hurdler (0-20); also a maiden on the Flat, not seen to best effect over this trip at Wolverhampton last time. Overall record means that enthusiasm is tempered especially as this is his Fibresand debut.

Goes well here (3121) with one of those victories at this trip on his penultimate start winning by an easy 3L off a 7lb lower mark. Easy to back at Chelmsford when next seen (finished last); could well get back on track despite the weight rise.

Not knocked around on her debut for this yard encountering this surface for the first time recently over 4f shorter. Shaped as if needing the run; interesting to see her upped in trip with first-time blinkers on; market move should be noted.

Comes here on the back of a terrible effort at Newbury (also in an apprentice race) where he was slow away and soon detached. Fifth here over 1m3f earlier in his career there's nothing to suggest that he will do any better in his recent form.

Continues to look a limited sort with the majority of his efforts this year looking laboured and there's little doubt he's struggling for form. Upped in trip (no guarantee he'll stay) for his Fibresand debut; not one to make much appeal.

Course winner but that is his only win in 27 starts, 13 of which have come on this surface. Didn't get the best of runs through last time but a hard one to be making too many excuses for given his overall record; tries this trip for the first time.

One of two that the stable run in this with his previous form on this surface not really giving much encouragement. Even less promise shown in his two most recent starts (ne here over 1m6f); well held over hurdles last time, limited appeal.

Thoroughly ungenuine sort who has regressed markedly often taking a keen hold and looking as though he would do anything but race. Temperament sure to get the better of him here; not one to trust one iota.

Forecasts

Thahab Ifraj (2/1), Shine Baby Shine (7/2), Panatos (6/1), Doctor Jazz (11/1), Sincerely Resdev (12/1), Going Native (14/1), Never A Word (16/1), Angel Of My Heart (16/1), Irish Minister (25/1), Duration (33/1), Port Lairge (150/1)

Verdict

Not a particularly strong event with solid Fibresand form thin on the ground (only three of the field have won on the surface) so despite a 7lb hike and running poor last time THAHAB IFRAJ is chosen to bounce back to life on a surface that he obviously enjoys. One of the main dangers may well come from his stablemate Panatos who has a least shown a modicum of form here and will find this an easier test than when running in France last time. Angel Of The Heart is the other protagonist that catches the eye having shown some promise here last time although her stamina has to be taken on trust. Going Native and the consistent if frustrating hurdler Never A Word are two others worth a mention.
  1. Thahab Ifraj
  2. Panatos
  3. Angel Of My Heart
