Fully proven in testing conditions; reasonably proficient when making a winning chasing debut (novices') at Worcester (2m7f, soft) four weeks ago; the handicapper has taken no chances with a subsequent 5lb rise.

15/2
Mahler gelding; bought for £66,000 in May 2018 after winning his sole point-to-point; showed fair form over hurdles despite not really progressing from his Chepstow maiden success (2m3½f, soft); always destined to be a future chaser.

Outpaced when finishing third to Boyhood on chasing debut at Newton Abbot (3m2f, good to soft) in May, albeit that was a fair run given a mammoth absence; has undergone wind surgery during the summer months.

Went down fighting on chasing debut at Clonmel (2m7f, good) in June - the winner is now 144-rated; kept on strongly when beating Smitty Bacall by 2¼L at Wexford (3m1f, good) a few weeks later; a very interesting Irish raider.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: Bryony Frost| T: J & A O'Neill| OR:  131| BF
4/1
131-rated hurdler, winning twice at or around 3m over the smaller obstacles (Chepstow and Haydock); creditable third to Erick Le Rouge (beaten 2½L) on chasing debut at Uttoxeter (2m4f, soft) three weeks ago; could well progress.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-3| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR:  130
3/1
Reverted to hurdles after making a steady rather than spectacular start to his chasing career last autumn - finished 10L third to Lil Rockerfeller at Cheltenham (3m, good); first run for 225 days; others more appealing.

Bako De La Saulaie323
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-12| J: Craig Nichol| T: R Dobbin| OR:  125
12/1
Has plenty of placed form over fences, absent since finishing a close second to Skipthescales at Wetherby (3m, soft) last December; given his trainers well publicised struggles last season (with a virus) he may well just need the run.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-11| J: Harry Bannister| T: C J Mann| OR:  124WS
18/1
Placed on all three starts over hurdles (2m3f-2m7½f) including when beaten by ¾L at odds of 33-1 on stable debut at Doncaster; has undergone wind surgery (also wears a tongue-tie) ahead of his rules chasing debut.

Age: 8|  Weight: 10-5| J: Charlie Price(7)| T: Tim Vaughan| OR:  118| BF
25/1
Off the mark over fences when justifying favouritism in a Class 4 handicap at Perth (2m4f, good) in July; 12lb higher here; was seemingly beaten when hitting the deck at Kelso (2m7½f, soft) three weeks ago; facing a tough task.

Forecasts

Shannon Bridge (3/1), The Hollow Ginge (4/1), Django Django (4/1), Deise Aba (15/2), Plan Of Attack (8/1), Over To Sam (10/1), Bako De La Saulaie (12/1), Ivilnoble (18/1), Danboru (25/1)

Verdict

An interesting contest. The Hollow Ginge is a proven mudlark who was never stronger than at the finish when making a winning chasing debut at Worcester (2m7f) four weeks ago, yet the handicapper sets him his sternest test yet (hurdles or fences) from a revised mark of 137. Meanwhile, Jonjo O'Neill's Django Django (Bryony Frost aboard) should progress from his creditable third to Erick Le Rouge at Uttoxeter three weeks ago, also appreciating today's extra yardage. However, the frankly fascinating contender is the Irish raider PLAN OF ATTACK who displayed a real aptitude for larger obstacles during the summer months, and helpfully also won his point on soft ground.
