Developed into a high-class hurdler last year finishing fourth over 2m5f at Cheltenham before a good second over 2m4f at Aintree. Always looked a chaser in the making; has had a wind op, now makes his chasing debut, trip looks on the short side.
Hard to criticise his hurdles form even though he didn't run his race in the Champion Hurdle when last seen. Rated the best of these over hurdles he looks the sort to make a chaser; speedy type and this stiff 2m will test his stamina.
Yet to finish out of the first three in bumpers/over hurdles (6-8) he wouldn't have been highly tried as some of these. Won three of his four hurdles starts at minor tracks (started odds-on each time); chase debut, hard to gauge how good he is.
Progressed in a taking manner last season his second over hurdles with his Grade 2 win at Cheltenham in January showing him in an excellent light. Came up short when last seen; has a future over fences, yard a little off the pace so far.
Useful sort over hurdles but well behind the other quartet in terms of ratings. Finished well behind Good Boy Bobby in a novice hurdle here last year before winning his next three; would be a surprise winner, sure to make a mark over fences.
Forecasts
Good Boy Bobby (2/1), Brewin'upastorm (9/4), Global Citizen (9/4), Midnight Shadow (9/1), The Some Dance Kid (28/1)
One of the best races of its type so far this season and well up to the previous standard of the race with some serious hurdles reputations on the line as all the field make their chasing debuts. Judging by the comments from Olly Murphy Brewin’upastorm may well need this race over a trip that could be a little sharp for the Ballymore fourth. Global Citizen has always looked at his best around speed tracks and this stiff 2m may just find him out while the progressive Midnight Shadow is another who may in line with his stablemates just need this run. GOOD BOY BOBBY hasn’t been tried at the level those other three have but he’s still got hidden potential and the yard are in excellent form.
- Good Boy Bobby
- Global Citizen
- Brewin'upastorm
