Done well since going into nurseries and won her handicap debut with a bit in hand at Chelmsford last month. Stepped up to 7f and not disgraced in defeat latest, so stamina not now an issue. Carrying 10st against improving rivals might be, though.

Plenty of ability and been highly consistent since he made a very pleasing start at York back in June; now having his sixth start since but has only finished out of the money once and fully deserves a change of fortune. Not much to find.

Won over 6f at Ffos Las in August and gone well in two races in this grade since. Finished third behind a couple of progressive types when tried over 7f at Epsom latest; an effort that puts him in the mix. One to seriously consider.

Won on good to soft ground (6f) at Ripon in June but let his supporters down when upped to this grade next time. Only raced once since and was a similar story as he raced too keenly to get home. First try on the AW and now has a bit to prove.

Won a modest race at Catterick in August and also pulled something out of the fire to finish third in a competitive nursery at Chester last month (odds of 20/1). Entitled to respect on that Roodee form but needs to prove it wasn't a one-off.

0-7 and starting to look exposed as ordinary. Has dropped 3lb from an initial rating of 77 but hasn't achieved much so far and others look to be progressing more efficiently.

Unbeaten in nurseries so far (2-2) but this is by far her toughest assignment and a 10lb rise in the handicap for beating a 64-rated rival - albeit by 3¾L - over C&D last month looks harsh. Respected but this is two grades higher than last time.

First try on Tapeta and yet to prove his stamina lasts beyond 6f; However, this is an ease in grade for the Kodiac gelding and he's no forlorn hope as his dam stayed the trip without any issues. One to monitor in the betting.

Beaten favourite in a modest Class 5 handicap over 6f here last month and limitations exposed as she runs from the same mark in better company tonight. Others appear to hold stronger claims.

Forecasts

Last Surprise (13/8), Asmund (6/1), Fair Pass (8/1), Swinley Forest (8/1), Lets Go Lucky (8/1), Mischief Star (11/1), Hubert (11/1), Silver Mission (12/1), One Bite (16/1)

Verdict

ASMUND has been expensive to follow so far but he has the ability to win a race and his attitude is not in question even though he's only been placed in five of his six previous starts. Perseverance is the name of the game with this fellow and tonight's seventh furlong might just be the ingredient that's been missing. Last Surprise conceded 7lb to the selection but is still open to further progress so has to be considered as serious contender at this level, while Hubert met a couple of decent yardsticks last time out and is another with the potential win at this level. One Bite drops in class and could also be good vale to make the frame.
