Starts out for a new yard having shown a fair level of ability in bumpers and over hurdles when trained in Ireland. Hood worn for his last three starts is retained moving back in trip having been tried over 3m/2m4f last two starts.

Made marked improvement from his debut when runner up on his second bumper start at Hexham in the spring despite not looking the finished article. Goes hurdling for the first time; half-brother to several winners, including smart hurdler Attaglance.
Cost £30,000 after finishing third in an Irish point-to-point but has yet to live up to that price tag although he did show a little more than on his first two starts last time. Needs another run for a mark, that may well be the aim here.
Gelded son of Lilbourne Lad who makes his hurdling debut; dam ran twice on Flat in France. Yard are in decent form so it may be wise to check the market although he'll need to be smarter than his pedigree to make a mark in this.

Stylish winner of a Fontwell bumper in March 2018 when an odds-on shot but failed to follow up that win disappointing badly when last seen at Plumpton. Returns from a long absence in a first-time tongue-tie to make his hurdles debut.
Ffos Las bumper winner (2m, heavy) who hasn't progressed in two starts since then albeit one came in the Champion Bumper. Should have some potential over hurdles for a yard that won both divisions of this hurdle last year and are going well.

Placed third on his second Irish point-to-point start and sold for £37,000 soon after to current connections. Yet to race under Rules he's the type that this yard do well with and is one of the more interesting recruits.

Fell at the last when leading in his only point-to-point and given a considerate introduction under Rules in a March Market Rasen bumper. Needs to settle better this time but should get involved if he does from a top yard.
Now hooded for the first-time a product of having pulled hard on her hurdles debut having shown ability in two prior bumpers. This shorter trip may well help but more needed than last time; needs others to falter.

Modest form in three bumpers when with Stuart Crawford before being switched to this yard for her hurdles debut at Newcastle; finished well held. Hard to see her threatening the principals returning from an extended break.

Forecasts

Jelski (5/4), Black Ebony (4/1), Methodtothemadness (9/2), Barntown (13/2), Sense Of Adventure (14/1), Irish Odyssey (20/1), Pull Green (20/1), First Man (100/1), Rashee (125/1), Express Des Mottes (125/1)

Verdict

Some interesting types make their hurdling debuts in this with the Nigel Twiston-Davies trained Jelski one of them for the trainer who took both division of this race last year. He needs to return to the form of his Ffos Las bumper win but was though good enough to contest the Champion Bumper at the Festival. BLACK EBONY is preferred though with his Hexham bumper form working out well (he split two next time out winners) with his pedigree providing further cause for optimism. Pull Green and Sense Of Adventure both hail from yard’s that are more than capable of producing winners in this sphere and should be respected along with the long absent Irish Odyssey.
