Posted a fair effort on debut at Southwell but then faced with a mammoth task when thrown in at the deep end in a valuable sales race at Newmarket earlier this month. Sights are lowered here but he strikes as one to do better in handicaps later.

A brother to Listed placed sprinter Stormy Clouds; his dam also won over 6f on the AW but stepped up to mile without any problems. The rider is good value for her claim but the colt looks more of a long term prospect. (Yard in good form, though.)

Wasn't beaten far by the now 80-rated Love Destiny at Chelmsford last month, which was a step forward from his debut on the AW back in August. Going the right way and has to be of interest in a race like this; one to consider.

A well-bred type who should be suited by 7f in due course; his dam won her maiden over this sort of trip before moving on to be placed in handicaps. Latest start was an improvement from his debut and he's an interesting one to note if supported.

Gets a a sex allowance from the boys but is already exposed as ordinary and has plenty to find on these term (would be getting lumps more weight from Modern British Art if this were a handicap). Would be surprising if she's good enough to win this.

Silver Samurai (1/1), Sunset Breeze (2/1), Modern British Art (7/2), Santorini Sal (9/1), Rain Prancer (12/1), Bavardages (12/1)

Verdict

SILVER SAMURAI is less exposed than Modern British Art and can put the 7lb he receives from his rival to good use. Sunset Breeze showed improvement last time out and is another to bear in mind even though his trainer is notoriously adept at plotting out bright futures for this type of animal; so all is not lost if he finds the suggestion has his measure. Bavardages drops in class and faces a more realistic target than the one he faced at Newmarket 12 days ago. However, he hasn't shown enough to merit anything more than respectful interest despite his breeding and the lure of representing a top yard.
  1. Silver Samurai
  2. Modern British Art
  3. Sunset Breeze
