Penalised for his Exeter win that came on the back of a couple of sound hurdles efforts for this yard. That win over 2m1f did come in a pretty weak affair though and he'll have to improve again to follow up given that this is a stronger contest.
Twice a course winner he's now slipped back below that last winning mark on the back of a long losing sequence. Well held when last seen at Uttoxeter without his usual headgear which returns here; a bolder bid can be expected this time around.
Rather lost his way with Gary Moore and didn't looks as though he was in his way to finding the right path with this new yard. Offered little when sixth on his most recent hurdles start over a shorter trip; one of the lesser lights in this.
Left clear at the last when a 20-1 chance off a 7lb lower mark winning a Southwell midsummer handicap over 2m4f. Failed to follow up in a similar handicap that lacked any real depth; back from a break, potential to achieve more.
Took five attempts to get off the mark in Irish point-to-points and didn't show that much in his qualifying runs over hurdles. Gradually stepped forward in handicaps (including in headgear); back from a break, of interest off this mark if ready.
Five-time winner last year over fences but has yet to return to that discipline since his last victory over the larger obstacles. Had looked capable of winning over hurdles in the summer but disappointed when last seen; yet to convince totally.
Quirky sort who showed his best form at Bangor in August when he was unlucky not to win (suffered interference). Shown nothing like that form in his latest two starts (not looking an easy ride each time); arrives with question marks against him.
Made the most of an advantageous handicap mark (12lb lower than his previous win) when overcoming a shoddy round of jumping to score at Huntingdon (2m4f). Up 8lb for that win but still well treated on his old form; needs to tidy up his hurdling.
Well weighted if his Flat form can be taken as a guide (run well on the AW of late) but yet to totally convince as a hurdler. 5lb lower than his last effort over timber at Stratford in March where he showed little; lacks any solid form over hurdles.
Well-related sort (half-sister to four winners) who looks the sort who should be making an impression at this level over hurdles. Let down by her jumping last time but now goes hurdling off a workable mark; looks the sort to improve in this sphere.
Modest form in this discipline as a career-record of 1-16 shows with his latest starts merely extending his losing sequence. Well held when last seen and the story isn't expected to be much different here; others appeal more.
Hard to make a case for this ex-Irish point-to-pointer (third on only completed start) who has made little impact over hurdles including in handicaps. Back from a break off a career-low mark but still makes limited appeal.
Once again failed to live up to the expectations that the market had of his chance at Exeter last time finishing a well beaten second to Searching. Overall profile has yet to convince and he's a hard one to find the key to; holds questionable appeal.
Failed to show anything that would have you rushing to back her since coming from Ireland taking her career-record to 0-13. Looks unlikely to improving that record at all here despite another drop in the handicap.
Forecasts
Searching (11/4), Dan Gun (3/1), Cotton Club (7/1), Hahadi (7/1), Cougar Kid (10/1), Raise Your Shades (12/1), Eric The Third (16/1), Bentons Lad (16/1), All Good Things (18/1), Mac Amara (20/1), Baron Von Chill (25/1), Dr Oakley (66/1), Templier (100/1), Whats Your Beef (125/1)
This looks a slightly tougher heat than Searching won at Exeter last time out but even under a penalty he’s expected to go well having found his form over hurdles and confirm form with the disappointing Dan Gun. Hahadi may still have a little more to offer in handicaps although his fitness has to be taken on trust as does hat of Raise The Shades another returning from a break who looks capable at this level. Cougar Kid always has to be respected here as should the well handicapped Cotton Club, he’s yet to show much over hurdles but any market support may well suggest better to come. BENTONS LAD gets the vote, another who still looks on a handy mark after his Huntingdon win.
- Bentons Lad
- Searching
- Cougar Kid
