Won a couple of decent races in 2018 but this year's form curtailed after a handful of modest efforts before May; had wind surgery since last seen and returns on a dangerous mark; not unfeasible he could bounce back if handling the surface.
A strong tempo will suit and notably made all to win at Ayr in July; three subsequent starts weren't up to the same level and he's now back on a handy mark as a result. Out paced over shorter last time but has place claims now back over 1m.
Ran well on his return from a short break when fourth of ten at Lingfield in September; faded when headed near the finish on that occasion so worth a try in a visor; he's won over C&D from this mark so certainly merits consideration.
Loves this course and counts a C&D win among his four wins here in early summer; he's been held off this sort of mark since but is consistent enough to pounce if others falter. Could be good value to make the frame.
Posted a good effort with the eye-shield back in place on his penultimate start but failed to back it up when a well beaten ninth of 12 at Newcastle last month; has won over C&D but the majority of his wins came over shorter. Others more convincing.
Well supported to win a maiden at Kempton last month and duly obliged in a pleasing manner. He'd been holding his own at this sort of level in handicaps prior to that so is still respected even though he's back on a career highest mark.
Lightly raced in handicaps (ran three times since attaining a mark) but seemed to go off the boil when last seen. The betting can guide as to whether the break since June has sharpened him up.
Swapped hands for £38,000 since she was last seen and still has a bit of scope for improvement now she debuts for a new yard. A mile suits her well but the 7lb higher mark than for her win at Chelmsford in August is concern.
Showed some promise in novice races before making a satisfactory handicap debut at Doncaster back in May; has to be a worry that he's not been seen since; the betting will have to guide.
A win at Redcar in July was followed by a couple of placed efforts but last month's visit to Doncaster lacked any sparkle. Now tries a hood for the first time in an attempt to revive his season; yet to win off a mark this high, though.
Made smooth progress to win a novice auction last time out; with the runner up from that race rated on a mark of 72, the handicapper had little choice but to raise this filly 11lb as a result; faces an acid test on her handicap debut.
This has been a stellar year for the gelding with 6 wins from 18 starts since January; he's also been placed five times during the same period. However, the handicapper has him in his sights and recent form suggest there's little left to play with.
0-10 so far and form has taken a dip over the summer; also lacks experience on Tapeta and now has plenty to prove despite being on a 10lb lower mark than he was on for his seasonal debut back in April.
Forecasts
Jack D'Or (3/1), Robero (5/1), Oneovdem (17/2), Rangali Island (9/1), Street Poet (9/1), Alfa McGuire (10/1), Sea Fox (11/1), Mac Jetes (11/1), Whatwouldyouknow (14/1), Universal Effect (18/1), Sheila's Showcase (20/1), Entertaining (20/1), Amor Fati (20/1)
JACK D'OR successfully dipped back into novice company last time and justified strong support with a relatively comfortable win. This is a bit stronger but the three-year-old still has scope and can make this return to handicapping pay dividends. Street Poet likes this course and is a sporting suggestion to give the selection a scare along the way; while Mac Jetes also has scope to improve but she was hit with an 11lb hike in the weights after fending off a 72-rated rival last time, so faces a stern test on her handicap debut.Oneovdem and Alfa McGuire are others who can play strong supporting roles.
- Jack D'Or
- Street Poet
- Mac Jetes
