Won a February Naas handicap hurdle (2m, good) for Joseph O'Brien before struggling over fences; changed hands last month for £9,500; narrowly beaten at odds of 50-1 on stable debut here over 2m4f (soft) last week; trip?

Won a Cork maiden hurdle (3m, heavy) for Noel Meade in April 2018; 0-9 over fences thereafter (occasionally let down by his jumping); moved on for £4,500 last month and is fitted with a tongue-tie/cheekpieces combination on debut for Tony Coyle.

Best served by a combination an extreme trip and heavy ground (a three-time winner at Ayr); ended the season poorly (PP) following a determined win at Catterick (3m1f+, soft); returns a fresh horse from a 210-day break.

Won his fair share of races on the Flat (4-32) despite being fairly lowly-rated; has made a decent start to life over hurdles - beat the Willie Mullins-trained Ego Des Mottes by 8L in a Galway maiden (2m5f, soft) last month; player.

Won here over fences (3m, good) from a mark of 130 in June 2017, but his form has steadily deteriorated ever since; particularly badly out of sorts last autumn (absent since, for 228-days).

Eureu Du Boulayt210
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-6| J: Paul O'Brien(3)| T: R Hobson| OR:  118
13/2
Hit hard by the handicapper for winning a couple of moderate races over fences in late 2018 (at around 2m3f, Catterick and Sedgefield); has plenty to prove on seasonal reappearance back over hurdles (latter fact a shrewd move).

Ryedale Racer17
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-6| J: Grant Cockburn(3)| T: N W Alexander| OR:  118| C
10/1
Strongest at this track for former trainer Ruth Jefferson but there's always been the suspicion he's been harshly handicapped overall - never more evident than when thrashed 18L by Glinger Flame (2m4f); second start for Nick Alexander.

Age: 9|  Weight: 11-0| J: Mr Cameron Wadge(7)| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR:  112| CD
6/1
Front-running mudlark who goes particularly well for Thomas Willmott; beat The Hollow Ginge by an unchallenged 6L in this race last year (off the same mark); must better her Perth comeback run - as was the case in 2018.

Age: 10|  Weight: 10-12| J: Sam Coltherd(3)| T: W Coltherd| OR:  110| C| D
14/1
Staying chaser; had May's 3m5f Norfolk National (Fakenham) at his mercy when frustratingly falling at the final fence; harshly hit with an 8lb rise, so connections seek to exploit a lower hurdles mark instead; wears cheekpieces.

Kings Eclipse133
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-0| J: Danny McMenamin(5)| T: A Wilson| OR:  97
3/1
Hasn't run over hurdles since October 2017 (0-10, albeit with some fair C&D form); appreciates a test of stamina and soft ground, but is almost guaranteed to find others stronger on these unfavourable terms.

Forecasts

Military Hill (3/1), Kings Eclipse (3/1), Rivabodiva (6/1), Eureu Du Boulay (13/2), Eviscerating (8/1), Ryedale Racer (10/1), Achill Road Boy (14/1), Too Many Chiefs (20/1), Heist (40/1), Stoneford (50/1)

Verdict

Achill Road Boy switches back to hurdles (seeking to exploit a more favourable mark) following a frustrating late mishap in the Norfolk National at Fakenham, while the front-running mare Rivabodiva teams up with Cameron Wadge seeking a repeat of last year's race victory (competes off the same mark of 112). However, the most interesting candidate is the handicap debutant MILITARY HILL. Paul Stafford's Irish raider has made a decent start to life over hurdles, comfortably disposing of a Willie Mullins-trained runner at Galway (2m5f maiden, soft) last month. With the useful 3lb claimer Donal McInerney back aboard he may just take some beating in an otherwise trappy contest.
