Maiden after a dozen starts, and while he has shown fairly useful form over fences, it's a bit of a worry that he's inconsistent, and reverts to hurdles after a below-par run at Roscommon 11 days ago.
Half-brother to bumper winner Hawthorn Cottage, and represents a top trainer/jockey combination, but pulled up on his last four point-to-point runs, and clearly has something to prove on belated hurdles bow.
Failed to complete in either start in point-to-point field, and could only plug on after being headed when sixth of 12 in a bumper at Perth in June.
Tailed off in a bumper for Seamus Fahey, and has fared no better in two hurdles outings for new connections. Blinkers reached for now.
Much his best effort in this sphere when 4L second of 7 to Cats For Cash in a C&D maiden in August. Has since had a spin on the Flat, so fitness ought not to be an issue, and he holds place claims.
Well held between the flags and on bumper debut, but showed a lot more when 15¼L seventh of 25 to Advanced Virgo in a 2m maiden at Navan on hurdling debut. Being brought along gradually, and will improve again, so respected.
Closely related to smart hurdler Songe, and has shown ability when mid-field in bumpers at Punchestown and Navan. Wouldn't need to improve hugely to play a part on hurdles bow.
From family of Lord Windermere and Sub Lieutenant. Better effort in bumpers when fourth of 9 to Presenting Meghan in mares maiden event at Galway last time. Likely to take the beating having been found a weak race for hurdling introduction.
Winning pointer who was just a modest fifth on her debut in this sphere at Roscommon, but should have learnt from that and showed enough in a Tipperary bumper in May to think she can do a fair bit better.
Forecasts
Cherokee Bill (2/1), Blue Jacaranda (3/1), Rossderrin (4/1), Tokyo Getaway (9/2), Patrick Joseph (14/1), Definite Plan (16/1), Siberian Star (16/1), Moondust Magic (66/1), Missie's Boy (66/1)
A weak race of its type, and those with form set a modest standard. BLUE JACARANDA and Tokyo Getaway both showed more than enough in bumpers to think they could win a race of this type, and the former gets narrow preference. Rossderrin is gradually improving with experience, and could make the frame if building on his promising effort at Navan.
- Blue Jacaranda
- Tokyo Getaway
- Rossderrin
