Shirocco newcomer is a half-brother to 2m5f-2m7f hurdle winner Motueka who cost €13,000 as a yearling. Yard's record of 1-21 in bumpers the last five seasons suggests a watching brief.
€20,000 son of Great Pretender out of an unraced dam from a decent family over hurdles. Trainer averages one bumper winner per season so is probably best watched here.
Once raced son of Champs Elysees finished fifth of nine on debut at Southwell in July having led 2f out. While that was a pleasing start this looks a stronger contest so must take a significant step forward to make the frame.
Son of Arcadio who cost £9,000 is a half-brother to winners Just For Men (2m3f/2m4f chase) and Late Date (3m-3m2f hurdle/chase) so looks a long-term prospect and yard's bumper record tells a similar tale.
Rules debutant by Mahler cost £105,000 out of his lone Irish point-to-point in which he was third to a winner who clocked a fast time. Likely a staying chaser of the future but could still have enough talent to go well here.
Son of the late great sire Presenting is a full brother to point/useful 2m2f-2m5f hurdle winner Mae's Choice and half-brother to three further jumps winners. Looks a future chaser so probably best watched.
€50,000 son of Presenting half-brother to a point winner and son of useful staying chaser Askanna. Fell when looking the likely winner in lone point-to-point and having joined prolific and in-form yard he is surely a leading player here.
Son of Shantou cost £60,000 after finishing second in second of two 2018 Irish point-to-points. Brother to point/2m1f chase winner Twotwothree could be a bright prospect and yard's lone bumper winner this season a winner.
Rare bumper runner for mainly Flat-based yard when debuting with a pleasing third here last month despite racing keenly and hanging under pressure. Can improve for that experience and has among the best of the limited form on offer.
Gradual improvement in three similar contests with her third of six at Market Rasen a first finish in the frame. Must step up her game here however and others likely to prove stronger.
Cheltenham bumper which she finished sixth of 15 in last April read like a who's who of NH trainers so can be presumed to have been well above average. Hard to envisage anything but a bold bid in this weaker race.
Forecasts
Waitonit (6/4), Singapore Saga (11/4), Wayfinder (6/1), Meyer Lansky (6/1), Just For Fee (14/1), Friends Don't Ask (16/1), Present Endeavour (20/1), Croftlands Blaze (33/1), Kymata (66/1), Hartland Quay (66/1), Dash Of Blue (100/1)
Philip Hobbs has a fine record here and indeed won this very race 12 months ago. In SINGAPORE SAGA he has the most likely winner here too with the fillies run in a hot Cheltenham contest at the back end of last season the standout piece of form. By no means is she a good thing though with a host of appealing newcomers headed by point-to-point recruits Waitonit and Meyer Lansky for two trainers who similar to Hobbs know the winner's enclosure here like the back of their hands.
- Singapore Saga
- Waitonit
