Dual-purpose gelding who has won four times on the Flat on turf and once on the AW. Course debut and on a competitive mark so not without hope down in grade.

Consistent form figures in 2019 (28712163); stayed on strongly when notching a second AW success, this time on the Fibresand at Southwell (1m6f) in May; a 6lb higher mark isn't insurmountable but trip on the sharp side.

Has struggled to find his form for a while now for three different stables and has presumably had his issues over the last year. Well beaten the last twice and best watched despite drop in class.

Unsuited by the fibresand latest but also returns to a track he failed to fire at previously. In good form on turf in between three poor AW runs but something to prove on this surface.

Suited by this drop in distance following a below par effort at Chelmsford latest. Has run well here previously in a better grade and place possibilities as he seeks a first handicap win.

Acts well on this surface and a latest neck second in this grade and over the C&D. Up 2lb but up to winning off this mark and looks to be running into form once again.

Philonikia54
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Harry Bentley| T: R M Beckett| OR:  65

Looked to be moving in the right direction with a couple of better efforts before finishing tailed off last time. Still has time on her side but others look more persuasive.

Avenue Foch26
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Tom Marquand| T: J R Fanshawe| OR:  65
9/4
Remains an eight-race maiden but held every chance before not quite seeing out 1m5.5f at Chelmsford last start. Isn't necessarily improving but represents an in form yard and these conditions could prove ideal.

Music Major191
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-4| J: David Probert| T: M J Attwater| OR:  58| C| D

2lb higher than last winning mark over this distance but remains well handicapped on old form and twice a course winner back in 2016. Has won fresh in the past so market support would be interesting.

Murhibh51
Age: 7|  Weight: 9-3| J: R Kingscote| T: Mrs L Richards| OR:  57| CD

Former C&D winner and ran right up to his peak form when third here last start in August. Lightly raced for his age and no reason he can't be competitive again.

Geomatricianv41
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Oisin Murphy| T: A M Balding| OR:  62

Remains a six-race maiden and his form has gone backwards in his last two handicap starts. Given a chance by the handicapper but needs to get back to his initial promise to take advantage.

No Thanks23
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Callum Shepherd| T: W Jarvis| OR:  62| D
8/1
Shaped well enough on his second start at this track and performing to a consistent level of late on turf. Ran up to his best when third last time and a reproduction would see him involved once again.

War Of Succession44
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-0| J: Hayley Turner| T: A G Newcombe| OR:  54

Both wins have come on turf but has run close here previously. However proving inconsistent and not certain this step up in distance is what is required.

Forecasts

Avenue Foch (9/4), Geomatrician (4/1), Philonikia (7/1), Miss M (15/2), No Thanks (8/1), Murhib (10/1), Sea Sovereign (14/1), Dyagilev (16/1), Heron (20/1), Brittanic (25/1), Sea Of Mystery (25/1), War Of Succession (40/1), Bartholomew J (40/1), Music Major (50/1)

Verdict

Miss M has ideal conditions and remains on a perfectly winnable mark while Avenue Foch has shown enough to win a race of this nature and the drop back to this trip should prove ideal. NO THANKS is reliable, lost a couple of places very late last time and and could have more to offer on this surface.
