Reappeared to win Class 2 Taunton handicap (2m½f, good) in February following wind surgery but well held in three further outings in the spring. Has undergone another wind op over the summer. Lumping weight around on return, but claims at his best.
Looked to have bright future when winning first three starts, including Sandown maiden hurdle (2m, good to soft) in November 2017. Failed to complete either start last term, might have needed run on comeback at Newton Abbot in August.
2-12 over hurdles, including a course win in January on good ground from 3lb lower mark. Has yet to prove stamina for this trip but on a fair mark here and has gone well fresh in the past so needs monitoring.
Consistent sort in 2019, though yet to win and not getting much relief from handicapper. Three-time runner-up in since May, was poor last month at Plumpton (2m, good to firm) and now eased 2lb.
All-out short-head C&D winner (good to firm) in May; mixed fortunes since in variety of disciplines but comes back here having dropped to previous win-mark and coming down in trip; could well bounce back to form.
Four-time hurdles winner in Britain, three times at Fontwell, with latest success at that track in April following a layoff. Has been in winning form in Jersey recently and while prone to an off day, is a leading player on his best.
Forecasts
Capitaine (2/1), Irish Prophecy (7/2), Magical Thomas (5/1), Romanor (5/1), Percy Street (7/1), The Twisler (10/1)
Capitaine is just 3lb above his Taunton win-mark from the spring and should be ready to go on his return. He's a fair sort and has undergone a wind operation over the summer but he must concede a lot of weight now. Percy Street could bounce back to form at this circuit, where he's a previous C&D scorer, and he also has the champion jockey to assist, but preference is for MAGICAL THOMAS. He's twice won in Jersey recently and is on light-weight here with his rider's claim, ensuring he is a big threat to all if in the mood.
- Magical Thomas
- Capitaine
- Percy Street
