Back from over a year off when making a winning debut for current yard at Kempton (1½m) last month, and made all for a cosy win over 1¾m here next time. Up another 6lb, but hat-trick may well be on the cards if staying 2m.

Beaten just ½L over 1¾m at Yarmouth in June, and now back to the same mark, so has claims on form, although she does need to shake off a couple of lifeless efforts since, which must be a worry.

Off for 15 months before landing final leg of a hurdles hat-trick in December, but form since has been patchy under both codes, and looked rather sour when tailed off at Thirsk on his latest Flat outing in August.

Won twice late last year at Kempton for Brendan Powell, but has beaten just one rival in three starts there this season for new connections. No appeal on recent evidence.

Limited promise in qualifying, but improved when 2½L third of 10 to Fragrant Belle on AW/handicap debut here last time. Up in trip from 1m5½f, and fitted with blinkers now, but looks sure to progress again, and shortlisted accordingly.

Sole placed effort in seven starts came when finishing 3¼L second in a 1½m handicap at Chepstow (good) on his penultimate start. Well beaten upped to 1¾m subsequently and is best watched having left Sylvester Kirk.

Reasonable effort when upped in distance for his handicap debut when third of six at Chepstow (1¼m) in July but three poor efforts since are a worry, and cheekpieces are reached for now stepping up markedly in trip.

Runner-up in a C&D handicap on penultimate start, but this daughter of Galileo was well held last time, and is a disappointing maiden on balance given her excellent pedigree. Visor replaces blinkers now.

Forecasts

Jeweller (11/8), Spice War (7/4), Volcanique (9/2), Garrison Law (12/1), Mr Nice Guy (14/1), Princess Harley (25/1), Zamoyski (50/1), Zarrar (50/1)

Verdict

Spice War is respected in his bid for a hat-trick, but he's edging up the weights, and may struggle to concede 12lb to the unexposed JEWELLER, who improved on his handicap debut, and should do better still now fitted with blinkers. Volcanique is a disappointing sort, but is on a lowly mark and could sneak a place with a change of headgear.
