Horse A-Z
Saw off a previous winner by 3L in a bumper over 2m at Worcester (good) when making his debut last month. Notable runner for a stable with a 25% strike-rate (7/28) in recent weeks.

Well beaten in two starts in 2016 most recently when 44L 12th in an AW bumper at Lingfield in December of that year. Others make more appeal.

6/1
Finished runner-up on all three starts so far including in a bumper restricted to point-to-point graduates at Exeter (2m1f, good-to-soft) in April. Beaten favourite in a point-to-point subsequently and is interesting on his return from a break

10/1
Signs of ability in two Newbury bumpers so far but was beaten 28L when 11th over an extended 2m on good-to-soft ground here on his most recent start and wears a hood for the first time on this occasion.

33/1
Unraced son of Malinas out of multiple winning hunter chaser and hurdles winner Double Mead. Market support would be notable on first racecourse appearance.
6
Horse silk
66/1
Held in two starts so far including when 39L fifth on the AW at Lingfield (2m) in November last year. Probably best watched at present.
Good second in a 2m bumper at Ludlow (good-to-soft) when debuting in March. Likely to have improved for the experience and is one to note on seasonal debut.

Horse silk
6/1
Point-to-point winner over 3m at Ballynoe (good) in March and ran well to be beaten just ½L in a bumper at Worcester (2m, good) on Rules debut early last month. Of interest once more.
9
Horse silk
100/1
Tailed off when finishing fifth of six in a bumper over C&D on good ground when making her debut a month ago. Others hold stronger claims.

100/1
Fair form in two starts so far most recently when beaten 15½L when fifth in a 2m1f bumper at Newton Abbot (good-to-soft) in August. More needed if she's to take this contest however.
Unraced home-bred daughter of Universal out of a mare who was placed once from 11 starts under Rules. Probably best watched on debut.

Forecasts

Shantou Express (5/6), Leroy Brown (4/1), Witness Protection (6/1), Full Of Roque (6/1), Highway One O Two (10/1), Master Mead (33/1), Phoenix River (66/1), Ioweu (100/1), Courteva (100/1), Radmores Journey (100/1), Act Accordingly (150/1)

Verdict

SHANTOU EXPRESS showed ability when finishing runner-up on his sole start last season and he can go one better than when finishing runner-up that day. The selection can see off Leroy Brown who is the only previous Rules winner in the field while Witness Protection who finished third on his stable debut last month can fill the same position in this contest.
  1. Shantou Express
  2. Leroy Brown
  3. Witness Protection
