Dual winner over timber, not set the world alight over fences yet but mark is dropping and Plumpton run in April (2m3f) offered something to work with. Might need this on return.
Made a fine wining start over fences at Newton Abbot in April but very disappointing in three starts since, beaten at least 25L on each occasion. Given a break since mid-summer.
Frontrunner, has shown promise in all three chase starts including at this venue and gets on well with 7lb claiming rider. Yard has a good record at this venue and goes on the shortlist.
Standing dish at this venue, with three wins on his record (not over this trip). Runner-up last two starts here, latest over 2m5½f hurdling in August. 8lb lower back over fences but hasn't won in almost two years and perhaps vulnerable again.
Point-to-point winner whose hurdles form when trained in Ireland was no better than modest. Improved for his chase and stable debut when third at Southwell and this drop in trip should suit. Likely has more to offer over fences.
Fairly poor maiden over hurdles, no improvement last month for the switch to chasing at Plumpton over this sort of trip and remains one to be wary of here.
Flat/hurdles winner, achieved three-figure rating over timber but yet to show much aptitude in four chase starts. Unseated at first here in August and tailed off at Plumpton since.
Sole win from 23 runs was over hurdles at this venue in 2016 as a novice. Placed three times over fences already amid mixed report card, was very poor at Newton Abbot (2m5f, good; 6-1) in July when last spotted and must bounce back after break.
Forecasts
Brown Bear (2/1), Goldslinger (4/1), Kingston Mimosa (6/1), Catch My Drift (13/2), Agent Westy (8/1), Hit The Highway (9/1), Iniesta (12/1), Shimba Hills (14/1)
Course regular Brown Bear has been in good enough form over hurdles/fences lately (twice second here) and is on a workable mark reverting to these obstacles but it's a long time since he put his head in front and he might be vulnerable in a wide open event. The front-running Goldslinger has definite potential to win races and shouldn't be underestimated by his rider taking valuable weight off but there was promise in the chasing debut of CATCH MY DRIFT at Southwell in July and this drop in trip should give him solid claims.
- Catch My Drift
- Goldslinger
- Brown Bear
