5/4
Fibresand newcomer who is starting to prove expensive to follow although she did give a relatively positive display last time when second on handicap debut. Flattered to finish close to the winner; looks opposable off the same mark.

Like all this field faces a new surface making his handicap debut having not really progressed from his first two starts both of which showed promise. Related to some AW winners (dam's side); needs to find more to score off this mark.

Kuwait Shield13
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-5| J: T Hamilton| T: R A Fahey| OR:  73
13/2
Stepped forward on his previous starts to score on his nursery debut off a 5lb lower mark but demonstrating a willing attitude. Likely to be suited by this 1m (stamina in pedigree); has to prove himself on Fibresand.

Trainer has had some decent results here but this one's pedigree hardly screams out for Fibresand as being right for him. Progressed with each start so far and has proved his stamina for this trip but doubts over the surface remain.

One AW start so far at Wolverhampton worked out well but he's speedily bred and that leaves a doubt about the suitability of this 1m trip (first try at it). Enters this fray on the back of a tame turf effort at Lingfield; questions still to answer.

Matched rather than improved on previous form when making his nursery debut at Carlisle over 7f (looked as though he could do with further). Stable always to be respected with their runners here; not out of this off a workable mark.

Handlebars15

Looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind (given three quick qualifying runs); never dangerous over 1m last time. Sire and stable both have a decent record here; looks one who could blossom given her first run on Fibresand.

Forecasts

Expensive Dirham (5/4), Hooroo (7/2), Bermuda Schwartz (13/2), Kuwait Shield (13/2), Forus (14/1), Handlebars (14/1), Alibaba (16/1)

Verdict

Never an easy betting medium this nursery is made harder by the fact that we have no Fibresand form to mull over at all. Both Expensive Dirham (by an excellent Fibresand sire – Dubawi) and Kuwait Shield have already acquitted themselves well in this sphere and it’s no surprise to see them towards the head of the market although neither offers much value. For that reason it may be worth taking a chance with HANDLEBARS from a yard (Keith Dalgleish) who do well with their debutants here with her pedigree looking ripe for this surface. Hooroo is another value option from another leading Southwell yard (Karl Burke) looking as though this 1m will suit, he could be a danger.
  1. Handlebars
  2. Hooroo
  3. Expensive Dirham
