Twice a winner this calendar year, and ran well to finish second over C&D two starts ago (good ground), but a bit disappointing at Cartmel last time and now new high mark has kicked in. Needs more, and might prefer slightly better ground too.

Bred to want a fence, and has shown enough over hurdles to think there's races in him, but will need to tidy jumping up after a moderate first effort at Kempton back in May. This ground may suit better though, and yard now starting to fire.

Game winner at Huntingdon at the turn of the year but two subsequent efforts nowhere near that form and he comes back from his summer break with a little to prove. Stays well though, and not ruled out if break has done him good.

Had looked to be going nowhere until putting in much better efforts last two starts, not unbacked on either occasion and ran well from the front in a visor (retained here) at Worcester last time. Knocking on the door and step up in trip could suit.

Giant of a horse that can't have it deep enough, ran his rivals into the ground at Chepstow with a gutsy win and 5lb rise for that fair, so it's a question of whether he is fit enough after his summer break.

Forecasts

Ballyart (8/11), Itsamanslife (4/1), Onurbike (6/1), Day Of Roses (8/1), Max O (17/2)

Verdict

Onurbike is the one that will love the ground, but he tends to need a run after a break and this trip is a minimum for him. Max O has found a bit of form lately and could give a bold sight from the front, and Itsamanslife could bounce back now he's fresh, but BALLYART is the one with the potential to be better grade than this, and with the Twiston-Davies yard starting to fire, as they inevitably do around this time of the year, gets the vote.
  1. Ballyart
  2. Max O
  3. Itsamanslife
