Managed to halt a slide in his performance levels last time wearing a first-time hood and under a more patient ride than usual. The fact that he's been pulled up four times in his last six starts means that he still comes with risks attached.
Transformed (over fences at least) by a wind op (also gets on well with this rider, recording a C&D victory prior to following up at Stratford (both times of advantageous marks). Below-par over hurdles last time this scenario will suit her better.
Shown promise over fences despite being beaten 36L/25L in his first two attempts in this sphere (given a considerate ride both times). Latest start came over C&D (finished fifth); sure to progress, market may be the best indicator of when.
Hardly unexposed (17 chase starts); ran well prior and after a wind op earlier in the year (win either side of that procedure). Best form has come at Sedgefield (appreciates going left-handed); returns from an absence 6lb above last winning mark.
Needed the run plus tough task at the weights when well beaten fourth over C&D last time. Bred to be a chaser and whilst still a modest sort this is his grade over a C&D he's finished second over off a 2lb higher mark; not out of this.
Progressing gradually and built on his sound C&D third in July (Joly Maker behind) with a Bangor win over slightly further (form of that race has been franked). Up 4lb for that victory he's worthy of consideration; trip may be on the sharp side.

Just a modest start in a race that contains more than its fair share of characters although there are one or two contenders who are sound enough in this grade. One of them would be Dragon Khan who got off the mark on his fourth attempt over fences although there is a slight worry that this trip may be on the short side for him. Torrent Des Mottes wouldn’t be out of this now that he’s given a far more suitable level to operate at whilst Two Hoots is more consistent than most if he’s ready to go after an absence. The suspicion is that JOLY MAKER is far better than he’s so far shown over fences and if the market speaks for him this could well be the day he opens his chasing account.
