First four races over fences have been blighted by mistakes and the Beneficial gelding finished 29L behind the winner on handicap chase debut at Gowran Park when last seen in March. Entitled to need the run on return to the track.
Finally off the mark for connections at the 16th time of asking over hurdles last month. Beaten since and interesting that the yard think the time is right to go chasing.
Clearly better than his last poor run at Killarney suggests and the gelding appears to hold strong claims on the balance of his first three chase starts since May.
Early promise of the Robin Des Champs geldings first couple of starts over fences has appeared to have leveled out in a number of below-par run since December. Not seen since January and looks up against it on return.
Lightly raced course winner that has also won over this trip. Connections have been nothing but patient with the Sagamix gelding and a market check on return for leading trainer/jockey combination is essential.
11-race maiden well held on both chase starts to date when beaten over 30L on each occasions. Impossible to fancy against these rivals.
Five-race maiden has failed to trouble the main protagonists in two starts over fences. Not seen for 12 months so fitness can be only taken on trust.
Solid 127-rated handicap hurdler, ran with credit in defeat on promising chasing debut at Listowel over 2m6f earlier this month. Drop in trip may assist.
Winner of a Naas maiden hurdle over 2m3f on soft to heavy ground when last seen in March 2017 over 900 days ago. Fitness can be only taken on trust and is worth a market check on return to action.
Lightly-raced gelding who has three wins over hurdles. Still in contention when making a mistake two out on chasing debut here over 2m last month to finish fourth of 10. Could go well if jumping fluently.
Lightly-raced gelding who has had just the five runs so far. Beaten over 25L when finishing ninth of 14 in a Galway beginners contest earlier this month. Room for improvement.
10-race maiden yet to hit the frame in four starts over hurdles. First time cheekpieces unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed to play a role here on chasing debut.
Improving 131-rated hurdler running well in a number of starts last winter. Last seen in February so likely to be well schooled for chasing debut here.
Still in rear when falling at the fourth fence in a Kilbeggan handicap chase when last seen over 12 months ago following a couple of promising efforts over the previous summer. Best watched on stable debut
Eight-race maiden without a win in seven starts over hurdles, rated a modest 107 handicapper. Will need to raise overall profile on chasing introduction.
Without a win in seven starts but nothing wrong with the daughter of Ask second of seven beaten 1½L in a Ballinrobe beginners chase on debut over fences last month. More needed in this company.
Forecasts
Flawless Escape (3/1), Mount Hanover (5/1), Swordsman (6/1), Out Of The Loop (6/1), Cenotice (6/1), Call A Cab (8/1), Cherokee Bill (12/1), Askann (16/1), Never Off Duty (25/1), Templemore Dream (33/1), Paranoid (33/1), Cappuccino Man (33/1), Weihnachts (66/1), Kilbrew Gold (66/1), It's Only A Number (100/1), Recommendation (100/1)
The Noel Meade-trained CENOTICE can take advantage of a recent run over his nearest rivals in the market to land the spoils here. The five-year-old is clearly better than his last poor run at Killarney suggests and can get off the mark on his fifth chase start at the expense of the Gordon Elliott pair Swordsman and Flawless Escape. The Henry De Bromhead-trained Mount Hanover and the J P McManus duo of Out Of The Loop and Never Off Duty should not be taken lightly while Askann did little wrong in defeat on chasing debut last month.
- Cenotice
- Swordsman
- Flawless Escape
