Had been struggling to land a blow before encouraging third over C&D on latest start. Cheekpieces worked that day and they stay on. Respected despite giving plenty of weight away.

Useful winner in the past and returned to some sort of form with good fourth at Catterick (6f, good to soft) last month. Solid claims if improving on that effort.

C&D winner in the past but out of sorts recently, including 40L defeat over C&D recently. Hard to fancy on current form.

C&D winner who has struggled this year. Did fare better than the result suggested at Wolverhampton (4L) though and may go well if rediscovering his best form.

Form has been dipping in and out this season, with good Catterick third (6f) two starts ago followed by poor sixth at that same venue (7f). Drops back in trip for this. Place claims.

Head defeat at Carlisle (6f) in June offers best bit of form but not as good since, including 10L eighth at Kempton (7f) last time. Usually better on AW so others are preferred.

Losing streak dates back to four years and not a factor in recent starts, including over 5f at Catterick last time out. Readily opposed.

Past C&D winner but struggling this term, including last of nine over C&D on latest start. Significant bounce back required.

Very little form to his name in five starts to date. Tailed off on each occasion including last of 12 in 5f Catterick handicap earlier this month. Hard to make any sort of case.

Forecasts

Vallarta (3/1), Burmese Blazer (3/1), Cosmic Chatter (7/2), Royal Connoisseur (4/1), Prince of Time (11/1), Gilmer (12/1), Minty Jones (50/1), Raise A Billion (100/1), Red Hot Fusion (100/1)

Verdict

A weak race which looks a good opportunity for COSMIC CHATTER to boost his recent revival. The nine-year-old wasn't beaten far at Catterick last time and on that evidence it sets the form standard. The cheekpieces seem to have revitalised Burmese Blazer but giving away 7lbs to his nearest rivals is off-putting, while Vallarta has a solid chance if rediscovering the form which saw him go close at Carlisle and is dropping down the handicap.
  1. Cosmic Chatter
  2. Burmese Blazer
  3. Vallarta
