Improved on modest form shown on Doncastyer debut when landing a 6f novice at Yarmouth last time by 1¾ lengths from Spirited Guest. Needs to improve again if he's to defy a penalty.

Made a winning debut a year ago at Yarmouth, and that race has worked out very well. Didn't see it out in a 1m Listed race won by Fox Power here in the spring, and remains with plenty of potential. Market will tell a story.

Yard does well with cast-offs, but this gelding was a poor hurdler when owner-trained, and despite wind surgery and first-time eyeshields, he makes precious little appeal at this level.

150,000 gns yearling by Kyllachy out of a winning half-sister to smart 6f winner Domineer. Makes a belated debut in a warm-looking contest, but merits a check in the market.

Related to some useful performers, but he made no impact after a slow start at Lingfield on last month's debut, and is likely to need more time. Visored for first time now.

Hasn't beaten a rival in two starts to date, and marked drop in trip isn't an obvious catalyst for improvement.

Slade Power half-sister to useful 1m winner Irish Territory out of a 1¼m winner, herself half-sister to top-class winner up to 1½m Ghaiyyath. Makes plenty of appeal on paper, notwithstanding this represents a rather late start to her career.

Magic J (11/10), Moment Of Silence (5/4), Ejtilaab (15/8), Futuristic (7/1), Brushwork (16/1), Festina (16/1), Global Challenger (150/1), Getonsam (150/1), Hasili Filly (200/1)

Verdict

Not a bad race of its type for the time of year, and the vote goes to MAGIC J on the basis of an impressive debut win last autumn which has proven to be very strong form. He shaped well enough on his return here, and gives the impression he will be much better suited by 6f than 1m. Ejtilaab is bred to be a decent sprinter, and made a winning debut at Doncaster, looking sure to progress, and he is feared most, although newcomers Moment of Silence and Brushwork need a market check.
