MASCAT encountered the exciting Palace Pier on his racecourse debut but was far from disgraced in finishing second. The step up in trip for today's contest is a positive given his staying pedigree and with natural progression, he should be hard to beat. Discovery Island disappointed in that Sandown race and while something may have been amiss that day, a bounce back is required in this while Karibana shaped well on debut but the form of that race is a slight concern. Thai Power shouldn't be ignored on debut but may do his winning in other races in time.
