Bounced back from some poor turf runs when scoring over C&D three weeks ago. Had something in hand and only 3lb higher in lower grade race now. Remains of interest.

Took advantage of falling mark when making every yard to win over 1m5½f here a week ago, eased down close home. Carries 5lb penalty but potentially still on a good mark and leading player.

Was having first start after wind surgery when 2¾L fourth of five over 2m at Kempton last month. Won five times from first seven starts in 2016 but unable to get head in front since. Others better positioned currently.

Dual C&D winner (2-2 here); pulled his chance away in early stages at Kempton eight days ago. Still quite low-mileage and could bounce back if settling in this contest.

Ex-Joseph O'Brien inmate, scored over 1m4f at Southwell on second run for this trainer in April. Fair runs here either side, less convincing lately on turf but may have more to say back on the AW.

Pour Moi gelding, progressing nicely on turf with wins at Newbury (1m4f) and Ffos Las (1m6f) last month. Major player here if transferring form over, though does meet some in-form rivals.

Forecasts

Manton Warrior (7/4), Tavus (15/8), Tigray (7/1), Conkering Hero (8/1), El Borracho (8/1), Baydar (20/1)

Verdict

Tavus has raised his game with turf successes at Newbury and Ffos Las in his last two starts and will take the beating if transferring that form to the AW. Tigray on the other hand hasn't done so well on turf but should get back on track returned to this sphere. Conkering Hero made all to win here last week and should go well under the penalty but EL BORRACHO had something in hand whne scoring over C&D three weeks ago and should be suited again in this small field, ensuring he gets the nod to double up under a 3lb rise.
  1. El Borracho
  2. Tavus
  3. Conkering Hero
