Improved greatly from debut to land novice race at Newcastle in July but still showed signs of greenness when fifth in the Acomb Stakes at York (7f). This is an easier contest though and may be ready for the step up to 1m.
Invincible Spirit colt. Put firmly in his place on debut when 12L third behind the exciting Palace Pier at Newcastle (7f) last month. Entitled to come on for that effort but a bit more needed to trouble the judge.
Slow start didn't help but gave a good account for himself when staying on well to take fourth in Ripon novice (1m, soft) in August. Likely to be more streetwise for this and should be nearest the finish.
Lemon Drop Kid colt. Took keen hold on debut and paid the price when weakening into fifth at Carlisle (1m, good to soft) eight days ago. Looks to be one who needs time and needs to learn to settle.
35,000 gns yearling. Son of Raven's Pass out of a mare who raced only once on the track. Half-Brother to 7f performer Montague and two-time winners Sacha Park and Sterling Silva. Could be vulnerable to experienced rivals on debut.
62,000 gns yearling. Showcasing colt and first progeny out of one-time winning dam. Unknown pedigree but the choice of stable jockey so must be considered.
ordinary debut effort and didn't take necessary step forward when 7L fourth in weak Wolverhampton novice (7f) on latest start. Big improvement required.
Kitten's Joy colt. Weakened tamely on debut when 18L 10th at Leicester (6f, good) in April. Not seen since and has been gelded but is readily opposable.
€65,000 yearling. Rock of Gibraltar colt. Half-brother to Prix Du Jockey club winner Prince Gibraltar and four-timer winner Sofia's Rock. Yard always do well with juveniles and can have first time winners. Enters calculations.
Son of Slade Power. Always behind and never offered any indications of his ability when last of seven in 1m Hamilton novice at the end of August. Probably better than that but needs a big leap forward.
Homebred. Teofilo colt out of mare who performed well in Listed company. Half-Brother to 1m2f winner Sharja Queen. Likeable pedigree and yard usually has them ripe for first run. Considered.
Didn't show much progression from debut effort when 4L third in 7f Musselburgh novice thirteen days ago. Paid the price for forcing the pace that day and unsure if she will stay the 1m trip.
Forecasts
Morisco (1/1), Arch Moon (6/1), Will Sommers (8/1), Salamanca School (9/1), Black Star Dancing (12/1), Dreaming Blue (12/1), Ambassador (20/1), Handlebars (33/1), Bouncing Bobby (33/1), Twin Paradox (50/1), Gweedore (66/1), Handsome Yank (100/1)
SALAMANCA SCHOOL has a likeable pedigree given he relations to a classic winner and will not be short of stamina over this stiff 1m. As usual the Mark Johnston yard are in good form and their debutants rarely show sings of greenness and could be hard to beat. Morisco offers the mot experience in the field and wasn't disgraced in a Group Three at York last time, but giving weight away all round is a slight concern while Arch Moon took the eye with his swooping late run on his debut and should be more streetwise for this task. He could be a danger if he breaks well.
