Off the mark over 1m in an apprentice handicap here earlier this month (odds of 20/1); and won well enough to suggest he can thrive at a modest level. The 5lb penalty is off-set by the rider's claim; interesting first time in a race of this nature.
Been consistent since joining his current yard and won his second race of the calendar year with a C&D success last month; held since and he's not the most consistent but still capable when on song at this level so still worth considering.
A rare contender at this level for the yard but the filly seems to have lost her way so the ease in grade is a sensible move. She'd be hard to beat if able to run to the same level as when second at Musselburgh in July; the betting can guide.
Best effort for a while when second in a seller at Chelmsford earlier in the month and, as he's unexposed at the trip, there might be more to come. Needs to prove it wasn't a one-off performance.
No joy in eight starts for Richard Hannon and was also well held on debut for her new yard when sixth of eleven at Chepstow late last month. However, she ran a close second on her only previous visit to this course so could feasibly bounce back.
Won a similar race on debut for his current yard last month but been below par three times since. Stiff test here and interesting to note that Cieren Fallon deserts him favour of Creative Talent this time.
Has a poor strike-rate (1-39 in all races) and is yet to win on turf. However, his place record is much more commendable (19-39) so he'd be dangerous to rule out too quickly. In summary, he's got place claims in a very weak race.
Ran one of her better races - in what has been a frustrating campaign - when third here last week; a repeat might be good enough in this company. The filly hasn't yet lived up to her billing but this drop to a selling handicap could be the key.
Forecasts
Ramatuelle (5/2), Creative Talent (4/1), Dawn Treader (9/2), Mongolia (5/1), Barrsbrook (7/1), Born To Reason (10/1), Prerogative (14/1), Diviner (28/1)
A chance is taken on RAMATUELLE making the most of the weight she receives from the boys and Sir Mark Prescott's filly, who is unexposed at the trip, edges a narrow vote of confidence ahead of Creative Talent and Prerogative is race that lacks strength-in-depth. Support for either Mongolia or Diviner would also be worth noting. Barrsbrook has a penalty for winning last time out but it's worth remembering it took him eighteen starts to get off the mark before accepting any cramped odds in a race of this nature.
- Ramatuelle
- Creative Talent
- Prerogative
